Uber Wife and I have been trying to take a second and third set of wizards through Zafaria. It's always a bit difficult coordinating our schedules.
I got to hand it to Bailey though, she's done the "lionblood's share" of the work preparing her storm wizard and Molly (a mutually claimed life wizard -- it's a long story involving my wife swiping my life character and claiming her as her own hehe) by getting them through both Celestia and Wintertusk.
Last night though, I played Molly and Bailey played Bailey (her storm wizard named Bailey that is) in the big Z! Zafaria! By the end of the night we were finished with the Savannah. Man that's a lot of fire lion people defeating. whew.
We were both psyched when Molly earned her Gnomes spell and was treated to the Gnome visitation in MooShu.
It's too bad these new spell appearances don't stick around longer like the old ones, right? I love to hold my visitations open for as long as possible. :)
So, we now have a gnome caster in the Team Friendly family!
If we could inspire Amber to play her character more, we'd have two gnome casters! ;)
Just found out on Twitter (and the Wizard101 Patcher) that you can now buy Fairy wings in the crowns shop! This item was requested as a mount a long time ago by fans, and it's finally here! I imagine a few of the "gals" out there are flippin' out! If I could wear my fairy wings while riding on my unicorn and go twice as fast, THEN I might be more excited. ;-) But that's just me.
Myrna has been riding on a cheap old broom for a long time, so . . . I decided what the hey! It's time for an upgrade for Myrna! Amber hasn't really had anything new on her character for a while either, so we sprung to give the "girls" a make over with new butterfly wings! Check 'em out!
WOOT! That there deserves a random butterfly-in-the-sky Youtube for awesomeness sake.
HAHA! That guy is freaking AWESOME! He would wear butterfly wings in Wizard101 for sure!
Anyway, I love the little side-to-side air dance/resting animation your character does while wearing fairy wings. Heck, in general I'd love new dances options for our characters. I like the fairy wings, don't get me wrong, but I'd even be happier to pay crowns for a new dance move. Know what I'm sayin? Maybe not 15,000 crowns for new dances moves, but still . . .
It's time for a quick catch up on what The Friendly Necromancer and family have been up to in game.
The big news for us is that Myrna and Iridian finished Dragonspyre!
You'll notice in that picture that Myrna is showing her Master of Ice badge instead of her GM badge, that's because she wasn't a GM . . . kind of makes sense doesn't it? And, wait, Iridian *is* a GM?! What the heck? Now my wife is uber times two-ber! That's right, she's got herself a second GM. BOOM!
What, Friendly? What are you doing? Your wife has two GM's and you only have one? Well fear not! Shortly after beating Malistaire, I cleaned up a few sidequests, and now I have my second GM!!! (You know, aside from Kyle and Amber who I basically leveled . . . but my wife maintains that those are the kids' characters and therefore she had two GM's before me . . . lol. Kids, a short lesson in the politics of marriage, the woman is always right.)
You better believe I'm saving up some training points for Celestia . . .
Anyway, Uber Wife also has been working a bit on her crafting with Iridian and Bailey. She has her sights set on that new Grizzleheim crafted house. Watch out world!
And she's been spelunking through Grizzleheim as well! Iridian has finished Grizzleheim (shout out to Blaze Mistshard), and Bailey is right behind her.
And that's really all we've been up to aside from hanging out in the test realm doing the new stuff.
I think I need to finish leveling my other Life Wizard, Molly, so I can say I have three GMs. She's kind of stalled at level 48 right now. HA! Then I could say, TAKE THAT UBER WIFE!
So what's up for the husband and wife team now that we've beat Dragonspyre a couple of times? We're going to level a couple of Myth wizards that we have tucked away: Isaiah Taleslinger and Rowan Ravenshard!
They're both in their low 20's and hanging out in the second area of Krokotopia at the moment.
1- Just as a refresher, the end date for the petnome contest is approaching! Keeping plunking in those entries! Remember you have until midnight 15 June Pacific time to make an entry!
2- Stop decorating your houses and start decorating your dorm room! Paige (my good buddy MeCatz) is holding a contest where you need to decorate your dorm room with 5 specific items. You need to get screenshots or video submitted by June 28, 2010 at 9:00 PM Central US time.
3- The new Xbox will be called not Project Natal but Kinect apparently. Not that you care, oh uncaring ones. Not that I care either. /shrug How do I know this? It seems to have been an early leak from E3. I picked it up from people gabbing amongst themselves in Twitter.
4- Yes, E3 is just a day away. If you're looking for E3 Twitter for information, I think most people are going to be following @E3Expo (or #E32010 ?). I highly doubt Wizard101 will reveal anything at E3 or be a big part of the expo. From what I've noticed, they don't do many expos or industry shows outside of AGDC. BUT, if you remember they did promise us a cool new quest would be coming out. I think that data loss last week really knocked the wind out of them and took pretty much all their efforts to overcome.
5- Molly made level 48! WOOTS!
I took a good chunk of Friday and leveled her up on sidequests including the infamous Mossback quest chain. That's just a ton of EXP there. I got an idea to make a Mossback quest video that could be strange funny. Strange funny can be good. Either way, I got a question from an anonymous poster that asked, "Hey Friendly. I have a question. I had a quest leading up to the Crazed Forest Spirit guy, but now it's missing! And I haven't beaten it yet! I will never get a Crab!!!!! Why did this happen!?!?!?!?" Just go back to my thread and try to follow it. Know that once you complete one of the quests for mossback in a particular zone, he doesn't give you a follow on quest to meet him in a different zone for the remainder of the quests. You have to hunt him down and find his yellow exclamation point.
6- Ravenwood Radio is coming up on Wednesday. I don't have a segment yet. Suggestions?
7- I'm starting to want to get Final Fantasy 13 for Father's Day. I kind of got sucked in by this film of these Japanese peeps getting all excited about it. I want to be this excited about it too. (Side note, I own Final Fantasy 2 for the super Nintendo /giggle)
8- Myrna had a good bout of Derby Racing with a teenage bloodbat (or you call it mythbat if you're cool ;)) that won her pet veteran status.
It was hilarious (or frustrating) to watch my mythbat smoking teenage level 48 pets. Myrna then scored a striped boar with her tickets, and I decided to race that as well. The boar did, hmmm, ok, so I earned enough tickets to buy another one. I think I'll level that one and see if one of the ultra-rare derby talents manifests. Then I'll have two for combines. Wee!
9- You may have noticed the pet and housing lists have reappeared at the top of the screen. If not, hey! LOOK AT THAT!
10- HYBRID SIGHTING! I do believe this is the archfiend?
11- It looks like the second chance chests are giving out money instead of second chances. Anybody else notice this?
12- I gotta go to work! Catch you all on the flip side!
Well it's been fun y'all! I just wanted you to see my last screenshot I will ever take!
That's perfection right there . . . no need to take any more.
/wipes hands clean
;) Just kidding.
OK, so that screenshot comes from Bailey and Molly's Malistaire run last night! WOOT! We ended up taking Cassandra Griffindreamer (Witchwarrior 101) with us and Travis Emeraldspear. Even though Travis was doing his best to rush us through the most momentous climactic point of the game, we still managed to get a few cool screenshots along the way. hehe. One of which was perfection, as you saw above, I totally should bring back the Unicorn for the pet of the day . . . it should have been official MONTH of the unicorn. ;-)
Check out this screenshot! The wife scores her athame and she snags a screenshot so it looks like she's saying victory. :-)
Nice work pressing the screenshot button, Bailey! Bailey's lucky! Although she was a bit lost in the dungeon (we need to do it a few more times just for fun I think), she did a great job pressing X.
Nice job pressing X, Bailey!
Next up is the obligatory, "OOO! IT'S MALISTAIRE!" picture that everyone takes. :-)
The gals are looking awesome there. Malistaire has no idea what's coming for him.
Check out this panorama shot. You should click on this one to see the awesomeness!
Bailey made quick work of those Soul Servants with her Fire Dragon spell.
We managed to pull off a Malistaire line dance before the fight.
During our line dance/ninja fight with Malistaire, there was a pretty cool one-two punch from Molly and Bailey where Molly cast her Centaur spell back-to-back with Bailey's Helephant spell. We left Malistaire with just a few hundred hit points after that round.
Yup, Cassandra and Travis helped us make quick work of ol' Mally. Before you knew it, Merle Ambrose was telling Bailey Bravo for a job well done. BRAVO!
And the wife did a fantastic job of pressing "done" here.
Yes! NICE WORK PRESSING DONE, BAILEY! DONE! Can you believe it?!
So after leveling to 50, Bailey put on her horrendously pink-colored Malistaire robe, and we all made our way to Cassandra's new Carousel to celebrate. :-)
She charged us for the ride of course . . .
Ok, now . . . Bailey is at work today, and she just sent me a text that she wanted me to add at the bottom of this post. So . . . here goes:
"Bailey wants to give a big thanks to CASSANDRA GRIFFINDREAMER (cue music) and Travis Emeraldspear and to everyone else along the way who has helped her and wanted to be her friend! You guys ROCK!!!"
Yup, That's the uber wife riding the dragon to Dragon's Roost! I'm happy to announce that the gals are ready to fight Malistaire! The Molly and Bailey team are ready to roll into the Great Spire and lay the smack down!
To make matters even more awesome for the uber wife. Check out her exp!
Uber Wife is UBER! Defeating Malistaire will make her a Grandmaster!
Oh wait . . . there's more . . . looky what the husband got her months and months ago . . .
That's right! The moment she dings 50, she'll slip on that Dragonfire cloak and BOOM! Behold the mighty uberness of uber wife!
It really will be cool to add a GM fire wizard to the friendly family of characters. I'm so proud of uber wife! (Molly on the other hand . . . she needs some focus to get to level 50 . . . don't worry, I've just been holding out hehe)
Next up? Iridian, her balance wizard, and Myrna, my ice wizard, will be finishing out Mooshu and having their own Dragonspyre adventures soon! Our family of characters just keeps getting more awesome and more awesome all the time. woot!
Hi Friendly! I have seen people and minions cast Guiding Light. Do you know where you learn this spell? It is very helpful for life people.
I love Guiding Light! It *IS* a great spell. In fact I use it all the time on Amber Deathsong when I'm playing her character or when I'm playing my own Life wizard, Molly Earthsong. For anyone not familiar with this spell, it's a blade-like buff that floats around your character's head and give +30% healing.
Unfortunately this isn't a spell you can put in your spellbook unless you're a Life Wizard. At the end of Marleybone you complete a quest called, "Bad News...." After completing this quest, all wizards (except ice wizards) get a new spell! This spell for Life Wizards happens to be Guiding Light.
Fortunately though, there is a necklace with this spell on it!
You can buy this necklace at the bazaar, in Marleybone's necklace shop, or if you'd like you can farm up your own from The Great Troll on Colossus Boulevard.
Notice that the spell from the necklace is +40% healing, so can stack this Guiding Light with the regular Guiding Light spell and then you're a crazy awesome healing machine!
You mentioned that minions cast this spell. You are correct, the life minion does cast this spell quite often, and we love her for it (it's just those darn imps she casts that we don't like . . . grumble).
So when my wife and I play this game together, I usually sit over on the hard kitchen chair playing on the laptop and I give up the nice cooshie computer chair and the nice computer with the wide screen to her. She is queen of the game when we play together. And I do this with such joy in my heart because it's awesome she's actually playing a videogame by my side.
To be quite honest, way back here when heck froze over, I had no idea that someday we'd be entering Dragonspyre together.
Bailey chucked out a firezilla card to end the Jade Oni.
And then before you know it, Cyrus had been defeated and Bailey was givin' a shout out to Molly in Dragonspyre, getting her free housing item and everything! GO GIRL!
Bailey is now level 42 and she has me singing her this song by the band level 42 . . . can't get it out of my head now actually . . . dang 80's.
LEVEL 42 WOOT! (I love how the guitar player pretty much just hangs out until the end where he gets to do his guitar solo LOL)
I'm so looking forward to defeating Malistaire by her side. :-) It's all about Bailey! She's amazing.
The wife and I have been busy! YES! Yes we have. A week or so ago, the Bobsi Twins (or Molly and Bailey) took down Meowiarty with the help of Leesha Darkheart of Ravenwood Radio fame and Wolf Redfist, our new found level 50 buddy!
That ended extremely well and the Bobsi Twins rocked out of Marleybone in a big way.
Next up was the odd couple, Iridian and Myrna.
And guess what happened?
I said guess!?
Well, yeah, there was some dancing, but Iridian got the Krok pet from her first try on the second chance chest!
Well worth the 50 crowns spent there . . . and on a balance wizard nonetheless!
Wow, it's been a long time since Thomas was finishing up Marleybone.
Now the wife and I are ready for the counterweights and Big Ben! Woot!
Look how awesome the wife's character is looking these days:
We cleaned up Katzenstein pretty good btw. It didn't hurt that some random 50th level superstar is on my friends list for Molly. /shrug.
Thanks Starslinger! You're a star! He even powered us through the "secret boss" Smogger while we were there in Katz lab. Man I love that smogger loot.
My wife found starslinger outshining me by knowing all about the "secret boss" there to be hilarious. Yes, even I, the mighty Friendly Necromancer, answerer of all questions, supposed holder of all Wizard101 knowledge, didn't know about Smogger in Katz Lab. She laughed. She laughed. And she laughed some more. OH, it was so funny!
I tried to tell her that I remembered hearing something about it but not paying much attention to it . . . no . . . no excuses for the Friendly Necromancer.
So, thank you Starslinger for the education and thank you wife for the humbling moment.
So, to inform you all about Smogger . . . you collect wooden planks around the lab and outside of the lab after beating Mr. Katzenstein. You use these planks to construct a bridge that leads to smogger from the "dead end" room left of the lab. He has 4k health and is a rank 7 boss. Look here . . . even wikia knows about him. Look here . . . even central knows about him. Look here . . . even Tipa at West Karana knows about him (actually, that's probably where I remember hearing about Smogger from). And yes, probably ALL my readers even knew about Smogger. /smacks head THE TRAGEDY OF IT ALL! Well, if you somehow didn't . . . now you do. Gratz.
Bailey and Molly passed the gatekeeper's tests yesterday.
They completely destroyed ms. Krokopatra (awesome shot there, Bailey).
And, they ended up in the dreaded Marleybone, land of a million side quests.
Seriously, I don't think there is another land with as many side quests as Marley, is there? We left a lot unfinished in krokotopia though . . . we need to go back and finish our beetle quest now before we get too deep into Marleybone.
Anyway . . . gratz to my wife's character! I can't believe she's played this far into the game now! AWESOME! GO WIFE!
