Bailey wand strikes Malistaire Dead . . . 35 times over

Yesterday I came home from work and this screenshot was up on our screen:

"Oh nice!" I said, "who did the big hit?"

"It's a wand strike I did from Amber's character with the help of Joshua Lionbane," replied one uber wife.

"whoa, wand strike?" I queried with as much query as a query could query.

"Yup!" Bailey said with a smile in her voice, "I recorded it too!" SQUEE!

Nice hit! Imagine if she would have crit on that wand! It's too bad they capped damage at 1,000,000 . . . I'd shudder to think what people could hit for these days. Tracking the big hits was fun for a while. :)

Great hit Joshua and Bailey!

Healing Off Immolate--Truely a Show of Awesomeness

I saw the most amazing video last week, and I neglected to share it with you all. You gotta check this out. As far as I know, this is the first time any player has cracked their resistances above 100 percent. In fact, Zachary (Wizardmaster2 on Central) raised his fire resist up to 101 percent.

Here's the thread that talks about this.

Here's the video from that thread:

Now THAT is the first time I've ever seen the "Immune" message float above someone's head, and since he has one percent over immunity, Immolate actually heals him.

This is a thing of beauty my friends because getting your fire resists up beyond 100 percent is no easy task. How he did it? As he states on that thread, "molten mantle, reckless runners, some 30% fire resist robe (bazaar), heartsteel, and a 24% fire resist burnzilla."

You gotta give it up to him for building a gear set specifically for use with the immolate spell, which usually damages you for 250 and hits your enemy for 600.

I don't know if this is even possible for other classes, but imagine a necromancer who healed himself twice over with a sacrifice or who could gain life through the empower spell. Now that would be pretty awesome. :-)

How does blade and trap stacking work?

A question from the Awesome Pyromancer, Ms. Jessica:
Most of my attacks don't take all the blades and traps I use.

For example: I cast 3 blades on myself, and a trap. The sunbird only uses one blade and the trap.

Why is that? (I could have finished that boss! Hrmph.)

Great question! I know this confuses a lot of people. Let's talk a bit about how blades and traps really work.

1- Think backward. When you stack traps, they will always come off backwards. In other other words, the first trap you cast will be the last trap removed. So when stacking traps you need to think backwards. This is also the reason why if a prism comes after a regular variety shield is played, it will skip past the shield.

2- No two may be alike. You can't cast two death blades and have your spell use it twice. However a death blade and a treasure card death blade may be stacked . . . because they are different from each other (the treasure card usually does a little bit more damage than the regular card). Another example: a death trap from a necklace (blue card) is slightly different than a death trap and a death trap treasure card; therefore, all three may be used in one spell.

3- Don't be fooled by spirit traps. For the longest time I thought that if I cast a spirit trap, convert, and another spirit trap that I would catch the death trap from one and the life trap from the other after the convert. How wrong I was!

I made a video here for you all to watch that illustrates the power of trap stacking. Now, I'm no super death wizard . . . he did a skeletal pirate for 3 million damage, but this is my first attempt at a "big hit" using the treasure cards that have been hanging out in my backpack for quite some time now. It was time to at least give it a shot.

*grabs popcorn*

hehe, that was fun.

You'll notice that each one of those cards played were slightly different, and therefore, I was able to stack them up and pat Malistaire on the back for putting in some good effort.

Hope that helps!

New High Hit Record--50836680

I don't know if you've been following the history of big hits in this game or not, but it's been kind of a side match involving a few of Wizard101's greatest players, names like Alex Jaderider, Ronan Wildgem, Donna Pixiesong, Super Death Wizard, Outrageous Autumn, Biggabe, etc. All the big players over at Central. The latest string of these big hits comes from Ironhawk. The same Ironhawk who makes all the cool guides at central. Up until this time people have been using the Wild Bolt spell when they made a big hit. This time a full 14-pip tempest spell was used and put out an amazing hit of over 50 million damage.

The thread is found on central here. He states in his words,
"just made more than 50 million damage using tempest treasure card with full 14 pips to kraysys. Thanks to my son for lending me his storm wizard also thanks to alex jaderider for telling the traps/blades he used to make a big hit in a thread somewhere in this forum i forgot where but i wrote them down and add several more traps. I put more than 20 different traps plus storm prism plus 7 different blades plus booster darkwind and also have 35pct damage bonus from gear. I forgot one trap so one of you can still beat this record later. Picture below was taken from the screen of my adept balance wizard who help putting blades/traps."

I first reported about the original big hit back in February. Since that time Alex kept raising the ante anytime someone would even get remotely close to his record until Donna Pixiesong's team beat that record with a 22 million hit in May. Then Angel Dragongem upped it to 29.5 million. This new 50 million hit will be broken at some point as Ironhawk hints to . . . he forgot one trap.

So . . . . what's the highest hit you've ever achieved? I've never really tried to go sky high like this . . . I think somewhere in the 12,000-13,000 range is the most I've ever done.

It's too bad they didn't keep the 100,000 hitpoint Malistaire in the game, or we all would have had to attempt those high hits. ;-) pffft, 100,000 on that Malistaire (who had a 200% damage boost when using life damage) would have only needed, oh half those traps, right? :-) I digress.

Gratz Ironhawk!!!

Another MASSIVE hit courtesy of Ronan Jadeheart

First, it was Alex Pearlrider/Jaderider with a 5.5 million damage hit with a Wild Bolt spell. Now, Ronan Jadeheart is reaching to beat that score. This attempt? 4.4 million with Wild Bolt as well.

Gratz on the huge hit! Keep reaching for the stars and getting those amazing numbers!

5493585 Damage . . . no lie

I read about it here at Wizard 101 Central.

This is just the last 2:50 of his video setting up all the damage cards. The big number jumps out during the last 30 seconds or so of the video.

According to the thread, here's the trap/blade order he did to do this amount:

Myth trap
Treasure myth trap
Booster pack Myth Trap
Amulet Myth Trap
Spirit Trap
Treasure Spirit Trap
Feint
Booster pack Feint
Curse
Booster Pack Curse
Hex
Booster Pack Hex
Storm Prism
Storm Trap
Elemental Storm Trap
Booster Pack Elemental Trap
Elemental Trap
Treasure Elemental Trap
Booster pack Elemental Trap
Windstorm
Darkwind
Dragonblade
Balance blade
Booster pack balance blade
Crown gear Balance blade
Bladestorm
Elemental blade
Treasure Elemental Blade
Storm Blade

The finishing hit was down with Wild Bolt with a Monstrous treasure card applied.

Oh . . . my . . . goodness.

So that was like five bucks worth of booster pack cards, but the name Alex Pearlrider is now off the charts in Wizard 101. Nice job, Alex.
