Ding 74 and Solo'd the Jabberwock
Hoorah! Ding 74!
It's been a super active two levels in Avalon. I've met with Cassie the most ultimate awesome ponycorn EVER!
She threw down the mass prism spell for me. That's ponycorn-rific! I'll be sure to use that next time I'm facing off against multiple death enemies like . . . hmmmm . . . Malistaire and his three spectres? /shrug Just the fact that it was Cassie the ultimate awesome ponycorn that gave me that spell means that I will cast it whenever I can. :)
I also picked up some bad juju from fighting Hrefna Nightfeather at the direction of my favorite new owl buddy Fionna Yellowknife. Check this out:
Pfffft . . . Uber wife and her Djinni debuff . . . pfffft. The coolest part about fighting Hrefna was her awesome natural attack move. She goes to the center of the battlecircle, hovers up all ghosty like, and then puts the blue strands of death out of her chest LIKE A BOSS!
I want that attack! Give to me, KI! :)
Avalon's Bosses are reminding me of Dragonspyre bosses, only without the exhausting tower mechanic. I really like these fights. In essence, there's a slew of cool boss fights that feature the initial power pip madness of Zafaria coupled with the mega hit points (and then some) of Dragonspyre bosses. Stacking blades and traps is back in a big way for me! I'm loving it. :)
And then they throw the the evil Jabberwock at you.
Just look at that thing. Crazy town. I fought him a few times until I was able to get it through my thick skull how I needed to both attack and stack my deck before I was able to solo him. If I had been paying better attention to the quest text, I probably would have realized that Friar Nolan had TOLD me that the Dark Knight was going to tell me how to defeat the Jabberwock and then likewise I would have actually paid attention when the Dark Knight was spouting the good information. :) LOL reading.
I only discovered these clues as I was going back through my screenshots and realized that . . . oh . . . that actually meant something. It wasn't just fancy talk. Right! I probably could have gone and refreshed my memory on Central too (I know there are many great guides there), but you know . . . I like to minimize the spoilers when I can.
To those extents, please feel free to skip the rest of the post where I talk about how I soloed Jabberwock (bye non-spoiler people! happy dueling!)
Ok, so The Jabberwock fight goes in rounds of three. On the third round Jabberwock sends out a horrible meteor strike that pounds you for 1,500 or so damage and all while you're still being pummeled with all the fury of a full row of power pips from both the Jabberwock and his storm minion buddy. It tends to deplete the health, yo. Jabberwock's powerful attack also leaves him vulnerable with a MASSIVE +200% trap, but only on the third round--on the fourth round that trap gets popped and doesn't come back until the sixth round . . . and so on. Also, if you have any traps on Jabberwock, that +200% trap? Yeah that goes away with all of your traps you cast on him, so don't cast traps on Jabberwock.
I kept track of the spells I used on my fight, so I could share them here with you
Round 1-3: Death Blade, Dragon Blade, Vampire (on Jabberwock)
Round 4-6: Vengence, Empower, Dr. Von's (on Jabberwock)
Round 7-9: Empower, Fireshield, Deathblade
Round 10-12: Dr. Von's (on Elemental), Death Blade, Vampire (on Jabberwock)
Round 13-15: Deathblade, Tower Shield (TC), Gargantuan Vampire (on Jabberwock) *FIZZLE*
Round 16-18: Garg'd Scarecrow *CRIT* (Killed Elemental Minion woot), Fire Shield, Empower
Round 19-21: Tower Shield (TC), Vengence, Gargantuan Vampire
Round 22-24: Tower Shiled (TC), Fireshield, Colossal Vampire
Round 25-27: Deathblade, Fireshield, Scarecrow
Round 28-30: Tower Shield (TC), Tower Shield (TC), Colossal Vampire (Killed Jabberwock)
There's a few things you can probably see happening by looking at that.
1- Try to attack every third round and use that trap against Jabberwock -- as a death wizzy, this will heal you up quickly.
2- Shielding damage is your friend . . . especially that attack that happens at the beginning of the third round.
3- Go for the elemental minion if your attack fizzles or if your cards aren't showing any attacks on the third round. The faster you can put Jabberwock's buddy down, the better, but it's more important to use the +200% trap on Jabberwock when it comes up for Life Draining.
YOUR MILEAGE MAY AND WILL VARY
How to solo this as any other class? I'm not sure, but I'd suggest buying yourself the best set of fire resist gear, pack a lot of fire shield and heals, and wear a spritely pet. Good luck! Be sure to check the comments to this post. Whenever I post a strategy, it never fails that I've missed a facet of the fight or that a reader has a great comment to add. I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to suggest strategy and help you out.

I finally crafted mine . . .
Yeah, Uber Wife crated her first carosel like forever ago, but me? It took me allllllll this time before even attempting to craft my carousel.
YAY! Look how fun that is! I CALL UNICORN SEAT!!
My motivation for crafting that was all about the Earthquake cards. My Silver Trumpet Vine garden has been giving me a lot of Earthquake cards. Look how many Earthquake cards I had when I went to craft this thing.
Yeah . . . best reason to grow Silver Trumpet Vine EVA!
Cassandra Griffendreamer ported to me and we started talking about a few of the carousel's oddities.
1- What's up with the shark seat being in front of the pole? Do you ride it backwards?
2- Shark is wearing a crown (KING JAWS)!
3- I'd ride the mythbat like a stingray.
4- Firecat has no seat and is therefore a huge safety issue (worse than running with scissors)!!

My Answer to Falmea's Question last Friday
If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard, every Friday Falmea will be asking us all a question over on the Wizard101 Facebook page. This all started three weeks ago with this question:
I did not answer that question because I did not care to answer that question. I'm not much of a duelist outside of the racetrack anyway. (My choice of course would be Dworgyn, duh.)
This feedback Friday, however, there was a much more interesting question to me:
OH! People had the most ridiculous answers (pure ridiculousness!) and they were all over the map, from heckhound to Malistaire. (15 of you people gave a *close* answer with "unicorn") Props to Maxden Jewers for his answer of giant bunny though . . .
Anyway, I am here to provide you all with the voice of clarity . . . the one true transformation that should be put into this game, like yesterday, is this (must be spoken in a death metal voice):
DEATH UNICORN!
I'd even settle for Death riding on a Unicorn
(Snagged that one from shirt.woot . . . hmmm, a T-shirt of that would be most drool worthy)
RAISE THE ROOF WITH YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE DEATH UNICORN! YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYIN'!

Patience . . . Victory!
I got really really close, but I got a Failure to Upload message:
Weird. Never seen that one before. :-)
I was sensing a unicorn mount in my future, but now my spider senses are tingling yet again with a new sensation. And this new sensation is the premonition of many Kingsisle Employees slightly freaking out as they scramble to get things running again.
And now I sense they have completed their mad scramble!
MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE!
GETTIN' MY 'CORN ON!
WOOOOOT!!!!!!

Pet of the Day--Unicorn
I LOVE UNICORNS!
As I've said before, just deal with my unicorn obsession, m'kay!? Or, remember when I totally coined this unicorn-inspired phrase that never took off, "I'm ready to frolic."?
TODAY I'M READY TO FROLIC! It's all about the unicorn obsession today.
TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THAT! Best concept art ever KI!!
And now, the most rocking Linkin' Park meets the Last Unicorn youtube eva . . .
Here's Amber and me hanging out in Amber's pad chillin' with her unicorn.
Amber's got the awesome FOG Unicorn (with a card of Dark Wind) and Thomas is sporting his original Bentley.
You know, I used to do this thing with my friends growing up where if we saw a unicorn anywhere we went we'd cry out "UNICORN SIGHTING!" You know, like you're hanging out in the mall and you're window shopping Hallmark and there's some crazy glass unicorn . . .

Webkins meet Wizard101! Paint! Sculptures! CREATIVITY!
I was browsing over at the fan art page and noticed this AWESOME webkin-like doll in full Dragonspyre gear!
I love when people get creative with Wizard101 like that.
Speaking of creative, Sorion Hex sent me a cool paint picture the other day. He was doing his best to imitate the style of the infamous Cassandra G. :-)
He said this in his e-mail to me:
So did you identify all the bloggers in this pic?
I have one more creative cool thing to share with you guys. Terry Dietz (he's a VIP around these parts) has been making more cool sculptures! These aren't necessarily Wizard101 related, but he assured me he's still steeped in fantasy and playing the game when he can. :-)
Methinks Terry is envisioning a water world for Celestia . . . I think that would be cool if there were water dragons and water unicorns in Celestia. A unicorn humanoid in Celestia would be awesome too!

Yes, A Unicorn *is* in your house.
Question from Max:
Yup. The most recent patch brought with it a Unicorn for the Wizard City Small House. I went and purchased one yesterday just to have my own personal Unicorn Sighting.
As far as I can tell. The unicorn appears every two and a half to three minutes in the small grove of trees out in front of the house. (There are two or three threads on Central that talk about this btw.)
I was able to make the unicorn "glitch" once so the Unicorn stayed visible to me for a full two and a half to three minute cycle instead of the usual 5-10 seconds. It *seemed* like I caused the glitch by entering the interior of the house and then exiting right at the time the Unicorn was fading away. I'm unsure though
The glitch was kind of weird. Amber's fog unicorn disappeared during the glitch as well. It was definitely a Unicorn mystery. I LOVE UNICORN MYSTERIES!

Hey Friendly. I was wondering what i saw in the game. So, i was a friend's house (in-game) and i saw a real unicorn apear. It wasn't a pet or mount it just apeared and the house owner was doing it. i attached a pic of it. The unicorn was moving and all that. What did i see?
Yup. The most recent patch brought with it a Unicorn for the Wizard City Small House. I went and purchased one yesterday just to have my own personal Unicorn Sighting.
As far as I can tell. The unicorn appears every two and a half to three minutes in the small grove of trees out in front of the house. (There are two or three threads on Central that talk about this btw.)
I was able to make the unicorn "glitch" once so the Unicorn stayed visible to me for a full two and a half to three minute cycle instead of the usual 5-10 seconds. It *seemed* like I caused the glitch by entering the interior of the house and then exiting right at the time the Unicorn was fading away. I'm unsure though
The glitch was kind of weird. Amber's fog unicorn disappeared during the glitch as well. It was definitely a Unicorn mystery. I LOVE UNICORN MYSTERIES!

Amber got her robe AND a fog unicorn pet!
Hurray!
Amber finally got her robe from Malistaire!
. . . Although I'm embarrassed to say that I threw in a few crowns on the second chance chest to get it. Still, I have defeated Malistaire countless times to get Amber that robe and never got it. So, HURRAY SECOND CHANCE CHEST! Amber finally got her robe!
Also, I got a copy of the Fun Online Games magazine and the wonderfully awesome Fog unicorn pet. I plunked my Fog unicorn pet code into Wizard101 and boom there it was. You want to know the code? Sorry, I can't give it to you because it's a one use only code. It wouldn't work anyway.
Amber was the first person to ask me if she could have the pet. I could tell that she really wanted this unicorn, so I gave it to her.
The pet comes with a card of darkwind, so it's a good one that emphasizes her secondary class choice of storm.
I'm liking this Fun Online Games magazine. It has all kinds of cool stuff in it. It talks a TON about webkins, but it also talks about Club Penguin, Toon Town, Freaky Creatures, Nanovor, Moshi Monsters, Free Realms, Neopets, and some others.
At some point in the future I need to write a little bit more about Freaky Creatures and Nanovor.
Anyway, gratz on all the new stuff, Amber!

Molly and Bailey Enter Krokotopia! Amber gets her Dagger! Unicorns!
I have a uni-rific graphic to celebrate the defeat of Lord Nightshade and the entrance to Krokotopia for Molly and Bailey!

They've actually been in there for a week, but I'm just now getting around to updates on what's actually been going on in game.
It's been interesting explaining to my wife how blades and converts work. I think she gets it now. She still has a hard time understanding DoTs because she's not looking at the mob's health go down with each round. But, I think I showed her how it's working. We also bought bailey a necklace with fire trap on it, so she's starting to get set to do some major damage. I think she loves the power of Sunbird on her character.
And of course I'm MOLLY! MOLLY EAAAAARTHSONG! (said in a high-pitched English Accent of course) I've been playing the healer for the group for the most part. Yes, I know I've already played a healer up, but this healer is going to be on Kyle's account instead of on Thomas Lionblood's account. That'll be nice won't it? A healer on both accounts? I think so.
OH . . . and in other character news, Amber received her Gurtok dagger! Gratz!
Unicorns, of course, were not used in this battle . . . I just like the unicorn sticker tile background today. Deal with my unicorn obsession, m'kay?

Progress with Molly and Bailey
This weekend the wife and I spent some quality time on Firecat Alley playing Molly Earthsong and Bailey Skystaff. Now if anyone starts calling me Molly, you guys are in trouble. :-) Actually, it's kind of funny, every time I log on Molly, I say in a high-pitched English voice, "Hi, I'm Molly, Molly Eaaaaarthsong."
I've been doing my best to keep everybody alive. I'm loving the unicorn spell.
You can see I'm keeping the effects of foulgaze at bay there with my super dooper awesome unicorn! LONG LIVE THE 'CORN!
Bailey has been doing awesome as well. Here she is doing her Harry Potter imitation (for more Harry Potter imitations, see Tara's post today).
Oh yeah, talking to snakes. Fire snakes at that. And because of her little conversation, she earned herself a cool new spell.
Nice one, wife!

Housing Item of the Day--Unicorn Statue and Life Pedestal
I decided to give you a two-for-one today since you've been so good. Both of these items come from Lady Blackhope.
I just have a couple things to note here. I really would have liked to have a gajillion unicorn statues on my lawn. Seriously. But, you can only have one it looks like.
Second thing to note is, why is that ordinary looking pedestal called a "life pedestal"? It's kind of bland actually, and to make things worse, you can't even put anything on top of the pedestal. Wouldn't that unicorn have looked AWESOME on top of that pedestal? Heck, I'd even like a brain jar on top of it. Also, if you notice, the pedestals directly outside Lady Blackhope's place look like "life pedestals." Change requested! (This is the test realm after all . . . .)
I do love that unicorn statue.
I got my tank top, I got my statue . . . I'm ready to frolic.
