Bailey, Thomas, Kyle, and Iridian finish Zafaria

I was actually going to bring this up on the last Check This Out post, but I forgot to mention it. WHOOPS!

Yup, mark four transcended wizards down for Team Friendly as we finished up Zafaria last Sunday.


There we all are sitting in front of the weird box thingy at the end of Zafaria. Wierd box thingy is awesome.

It took us a while to make our way through the world, simply because Bailey and I wanted to experience Zafaria together. Coordinating our schedules while juggling the three kids and their needs and own wishes to play on the computer can be a tricky thing, but we were lucky enough to get some nice stretches of game time over a few weekends, and the rest is history.

There were a lot of great moments in Zafaria (like visiting the zoo), but more than that, it was fun chatting with our friends lists while playing through Zafaria and spending some time playing together. That was fun, and thank you all for making it an easy ride for us with all the support.

Next up for us would probably be taking another team through . . . I'll let you know when we plan it all out. It'd be great to play my ice wizard again, and I think Bailey has a Myth wizard burning in her pocket. The lure of the basilisk is strong. :)

In the meantime, Thomas is busy crafting his Spiritcaller Drums. Just one more Conga Drum and a few black pearls, and I'm ready to finish that crafting quest up!

Bailey's Definition of Fun!

Hey all, it's a Bailey blog invasion! I'm taking over for Friendly today.

What's the definition of "Fun" you ask? Why, it's clicking and pressing X of course!

Yes, I have been having a lot of FUN lately, and I have managed to get two of my alts to LEGENDARY!!! Here's the gang:


That's Iridian Legend (also known as Captain Pinky--my sorceress), Bailey (you all know and love her ;)), and Rowan Ravenshard (named after the fabulous Ronan Ravenshard, Friendly's biggest fan).

And as every Legendary wizard knows, part of the FUN of getting to that level is doing your level 58 spell quest! It's pretty cool that I've got to experience three of these fights now. I've really enjoyed seeing how each school's battle plays out and the differences with them. So far, out of the three, Fire was still the hardest for me! Balance was surprisingly painless compared to Fire! But, Myth . . . yeah, I will admit that Myth's level 58 fight was a very good fight. I died the first try due to lousy luck with my cards, but on the second time I got my Minotaur minion out, and he was a rockstar--loved me some Minotaur!!

Ya know, in a way, I kinda liked dying in that Myth duel. As strange as that may sound, it gave me a chance to really experience that fight in depth and remember what it was like later and the challenges I had to overcome to win. It's too bad that we cant redo these battles after the spell quest is over. That's why I gotta say, who cares if you don't have a victory the first run at your level 58 spell? Sure no one wants to get defeated in battle, but if you do, it's no big deal. You go back, you make adjustments, and you figure out a better strategy for the next time through. In the end, it's going to be the first and last time you get to do that fight, so just enjoy it.

Anyway, since I haven't posted in a while, I need to tell you that I've been a very busy crafter as well! Iridian and Rowan are both GM crafters and are both sporting their crafted critical gear. WOOT! And, I also have some crafted crit gear I've made for Kyle; it's ready and waiting for him to turn 55, which is definitely next on the agenda! GO Kyle! (Still working on Amber's though :))

And as my better half said in another post, I have everything ready now for the New Celestian Observatory house when that hits live. Just one problem though--I don't know which wizard wants it the most? LOL

So yeah, I could go on and on and tell you all about my countless hours of farming for the Gong of the Oni. (WHY OH WHY do you keep your gong from me Mr. Death Oni?!) Or I could ramble all about how I am loving the new colors for the Fierce Hound on the test realm! But I'll try to save some stuff for another post. XD

Ok, I just have one correction to make to my previous definition of Fun . . . Fun is spending time with AWESOME people *while* clicking and pressing X. :D Here's a BIG thanks to Destiny Mistshard and Blaze for being willing to go much much slower than they normally would to quest with me through Celestia! And thanks to all of my friends who take time to say HI!!

It's my friends (including the "Friendliest" friend of all) that really make this game a FUN experience for me!

Last night we took the myth/death team to Malistaire's Lair! WOOT!




We barely made it about an hour before the servers went down last night. We were there to see the end of the world as we know it:



Pretty soon we'll have 10 grandmasters (The myth/death team is only level 48 or 49 right now). Wait, scratch that. Pretty soon we'll have 10 legendaries!

p.s. The servers are still down right now for me, but you should go check to see if they're up though!

What's going on in Friendy's World?

It's time for a quick catch up on what The Friendly Necromancer and family have been up to in game.

The big news for us is that Myrna and Iridian finished Dragonspyre!


You'll notice in that picture that Myrna is showing her Master of Ice badge instead of her GM badge, that's because she wasn't a GM . . . kind of makes sense doesn't it? And, wait, Iridian *is* a GM?! What the heck? Now my wife is uber times two-ber! That's right, she's got herself a second GM. BOOM!

What, Friendly? What are you doing? Your wife has two GM's and you only have one? Well fear not! Shortly after beating Malistaire, I cleaned up a few sidequests, and now I have my second GM!!! (You know, aside from Kyle and Amber who I basically leveled . . . but my wife maintains that those are the kids' characters and therefore she had two GM's before me . . . lol. Kids, a short lesson in the politics of marriage, the woman is always right.)


You better believe I'm saving up some training points for Celestia . . .

Anyway, Uber Wife also has been working a bit on her crafting with Iridian and Bailey. She has her sights set on that new Grizzleheim crafted house. Watch out world!


And she's been spelunking through Grizzleheim as well! Iridian has finished Grizzleheim (shout out to Blaze Mistshard), and Bailey is right behind her.


I think I have a picture of Thomas by that cool Grizzleheim monument as well. Definitely a photo moment in Grizzleheim.

And that's really all we've been up to aside from hanging out in the test realm doing the new stuff.

I think I need to finish leveling my other Life Wizard, Molly, so I can say I have three GMs. She's kind of stalled at level 48 right now. HA! Then I could say, TAKE THAT UBER WIFE!

So what's up for the husband and wife team now that we've beat Dragonspyre a couple of times? We're going to level a couple of Myth wizards that we have tucked away: Isaiah Taleslinger and Rowan Ravenshard!


They're both in their low 20's and hanging out in the second area of Krokotopia at the moment.

LOL Surprises from Uber Wife

Ok, so the truth of the matter is that I'm an early bird type of a person, and my wife is a late night type of a person. I woke up this morning with a couple of surprises waiting for me in the picture folder.

Surprise 1:


HAHA! Iridian and Myrna played a lot of Dragonspyre this weekend. We worked through all of Plaza of Conquests and The Grand Chasm, and we started working The Drake Hatchery as well. The last thing I remember was that Myrna was really freaking close to level 42 . . . like maybe only 10% left to go. Well, it looks like uber wife was busy with my character. HAHA!

THANKS UBER WIFE!

Surprise 2:


Yeah, I woke up to two mysterious eggs with a 14 hour timer on Thomas Lionblood. The dye shop revealed them to be storm cats. HAHAHA! The wife played my character and got me two stormcats from Herkir last night! WOOT!

Dang that's awesome!

I bet you all wish you had an uber wife.

Myrna and Iridian Enter Dragonspyre!

Uber Wife and I decided to work a bit more on our Myrna and Iridian team this weekend. We had put them to the side to finish up Dragonspyre with Molly and Bailey. Myrna (my character) needed to do a little catch-up to Iridian (uber wife's character), and this involved earning her Iceblade and a number of levels.


Yay, I got a visit from a colossus!


Yay, Iceblade *and* a level up! It doesn't get much better than that.

Even after all that, Myrna is still behind Iridian on levels, but that's because she's been busy completing all her sidequests, like the Mossback series in Mooshu.


Uber wife is uber.

So, blah blah blah, it took a bit of doing, but after a few hours of play, Myrna was ready for the Tree of Life Instance and Jade Oni. These went relatively fast, and before we knew it, we were fighting Cyrus Drake. Together.


Ok, here's where I'm confused. I remember fighting Cyrus Drake with Thomas back when Dragonspyre went live, and I remember doing that fight with a few strangers (You can see that in the video on this blogpost). THEN, I had to fight Cyrus Drake with Amber and Kyle separately for some reason. I also had to fight Cyrus with Molly and Bailey separately. Then for some reason Myrna and Iridian were able to fight him side by side? What the heck? It's weird because you can't port in to a Cyrus Drake fight, and it appears that if you enter the myth tower at the same time, then you'll have to fight him separately. BUT, if you have one character go into the fight and start it, then wait a couple minutes and enter with your other character, then they can join in the fight . . . but only if they are both flagged for the fight? OH MY WORD SO WEIRD. Why would it be coded like that?

Sorry, I digress.


Um, the important thing here at the end of the day was that . . . TADA . . . we won and Myrna and Iridian are now rocking the Dragonspyre scene.


BOOMZAKALAKA! YOU KNOW IT! AND, Iridian dinged 45 to boot (check out the clothing swap on Iridian there between the two pictures above).

Where can I get me some of that hydra awesomeness?

Question from Destiny Nightrider, who is a Necromancer:

Have not wrote you in a while, cause guess things have been good up until now. My question for you is where can I get a hydra (I believe they are called). It is the three headed dragon. I got a gift card a while back and it showed the hydra on the card but when I logged on to the site to redeem it, they were telling everyone to hold off because a really good pet was coming so I waited. While it is a good one, I really wanted the hydra so do you know of an amulet, boss or place where I can purchase one? I really appreciate any assistance on this you can give me.

Well, I have some bad news for you . . . that card shows a hydra, but it really isn't a hydra pet that comes with it. I know the card you're talking about because I've bought one in the past too, but it just shows a little graphic of a hydra on the card to look cool, not because you're going to get a hydra pet. Kingsisle lists all the cards and the associated pets that come with them over on this webpage. Be sure to check that page often to see what the current pet is going to give as its benefit. (Btw, the toy dragon card from the Toy's R Us gift card is currently giving out a pet with a hex card on it . . . oh man, that's what I'd want if I was buying right now!)

The only way to get a hydra pet that I know of is to be a level 48 balance wizard and finish the level 48 balance spell quest.

Now, if you just want to have the hydra spell, that's different. I can help you there. The Jade Oni drops an amulet called the Jade Oni's Amulet of Duplicity. You might even see that in the bazaar. The drawback? You have to be level 35 to use it. Also, hydra is available to be learned at level 42 if you go all the way up the balance school line for your secondary.

One more thing, for all you old school peeps, there used to be a couple pieces of crown clothing that had a hydra on it. Kyle used to wear them around, but now the wife's balance character, Iridian, is sporting them!



That's why she kind of looks like a big purple and blue mess right now! :-) Actually, I kind of like that look on her character. Awesomeness.

The $126,000 raised by Wizard101 players will be evenly distributed between the charities. The endeavor was the first for the award-winning, magic-themed massively multiplayer online (MMO) game.

Wizard101 selected the two beneficiaries – Austin Children’s Shelter and Child’s Play – to support the local Austin community as well as the global gaming community. Austin Children’s Shelter provides emergency shelter and care for abused and neglected children, and Child’s Play is a game industry charity dedicated to providing games and toys to children in hospitals worldwide.

“Wizard101 fans have shown that there truly is strength in numbers,” said Elie Akilian, CEO of KingsIsle Entertainment. “We were thrilled to see the Wizard101 community band together to benefit these two great organizations.”

Two pairs of wizards now in mooshu!

The wife and I have been busy! YES! Yes we have. A week or so ago, the Bobsi Twins (or Molly and Bailey) took down Meowiarty with the help of Leesha Darkheart of Ravenwood Radio fame and Wolf Redfist, our new found level 50 buddy!


That ended extremely well and the Bobsi Twins rocked out of Marleybone in a big way.


Next up was the odd couple, Iridian and Myrna.


And guess what happened?


I said guess!?


Well, yeah, there was some dancing, but Iridian got the Krok pet from her first try on the second chance chest!


Well worth the 50 crowns spent there . . . and on a balance wizard nonetheless!

Housing Item of the Day--Painted Bowl

I decided today that I need to catch Myrna up to my wife's character, Iridian, since that sneaky Iridian is in Marleybone now. So that means a lot of quick killing with the Myrna and Kyle team. As of today's efforts, Myrna is now in the Temple of Storms!

On her way through the Emperor's Retreat, Myrna picked up a great little bowl from Prince Kebi Sokkwi. It's today's item of the day!


Doesn't it go great on her table there? Attractive hieroglyphics adorning its rim, this piece is sure to create the comment, "nice bowl" from your friends.

A whole lot of Krokotopia

As of this morning, I now have three sets of players playing in Krokotopia.

First up we have the forgotten duo of wonder, The Evil Twin and Isiah Taleslinger. (both my characters)


Next is the new duo of wonder, Molly Earthsong and Bailey Skystaff. (My character and my wife's character)


And finally are the newcomers on the scene, Myrna Lionblood and Iridian Legend. (My daughter's character and my wife's character)


hmmm, who will be the first to venture forth out of Krokotopia?
