Yesterday one of the designers who sits behind myself and Professor Greyrose, spun around and yelled "I need Scrap Iron!" HAHA! It was awesome to see that real-life reaction that pretty much every player has that undertakes crafting. Greyrose and myself were like, "Marleybone!" and "Bazaar!" He went on to explain he had been trying to snipe reagents in the Bazaar by refreshing every 30 seconds, but it was driving him a bit nuts.
Then I remembered! Oh yeah! We started making awesome maps of where all the reagents are out there in the world . . . hmmmm.
I linked him to my posts, and he jokingly said, "The Friendly Necromancer? Who is this guy?" Sadly, none of the maps I ever made *had* the wonderful scrap iron spawns he was looking for. Then I linked him to Evil Theurgist's Reagent Map site. And that did have some good info, but I could clearly see just from looking at the map to Regent's Square that a lot of the spawn locations were missing or incomplete. Fail.
Are these the best we have?
Really?
It seems like every person (myself included) that has begun to take this task on has crumbled at the sheer amount of work it involves or lost interest in continuing the project. Where's the Celestia, Avalon, Zafaria, Azteca, Wintertusk, and Aquila maps?
Looks like Jester has the maps and is willing to work with someone based off of this thread (hehe, someone tried to repost my maps here, which in this case I am totally ok with btw.)
If there's a site out there that's good for this kind of information, please let me know about it!

Amber!
No, silly! Not Amber Deathsong! I'm on a quest for Amber reagents! If you don't know what that is, it's a high high end crafting component in Wizard101 that (besides causing a fuss) is really only used (as of now) in crafting unique spells and the housing games, at least that's what the wiki is telling me. I've been lucky enough to pull a few of the leet spells from hoard packs, but the rest evade me.
Where does one get Amber? Two sources. One is gardening. The other is a thick transmute receipe involving 5 Merle's Whiskers, 5 Amber Dust, 15 Sunstone, and 10 Golden Pearl . . . to one Amber.
I choose Gardening!
To those ends I've been growing a lot of King Parsely. My buddy Gary at work is doing that too. He made a good point that King Parsely was a good route to go because it's a crown plant that reseeds plentifully. In fact, you can get a couple reseeds from one King Parsely plant over the course of its life.

Woot Legendary Artisan! (hmmm, what to do about gear . . .)
Crafting is so much easier these days now that you can swap reagents through the shared bank, isn't it? Well, it is for me. I had been a little stalled on crafting my final conga drum to finish off my final Spiritcaller drum for about a week. To make matters worse, it always seemed like my "secret" spots for farming stone block reagents weren't so secret after all. Every time I logged in to farm, someone else had beat me to the punch.
I started to resort to hitting the entrance way to Malistaire's over and over until I realized . . . hey wait a second . . . I probably have gobs of reagents in Myrna's pack! I logged on Myrna, did a little transfer transfer action, and BOOM, Spiritcaller Drums crafted. (Now if we only had a shared bank space between our entire family of accounts. That would be amazing!)
Check it out, here's Thomas sporting his new badge, riding on his Chrismoose LOL.
The first thing I did with that new badge was craft myself a level 66 death robe. It's wayyyy better than what I was wearing, but we won't get into that. hehe. (I never did get my waterworks robe)
The only problem is, of course, I'm looking a little wanky now.
I haven't looked much into the other level 66 and level 68 gear, but I need to. From what I understand, many people consider the Waterworks gear slightly better than the level 66 and 68 gear, but I'd like to understand it better myself. I long for the days when Ironhawk was making his illustrated guides over on Central. He did such a great job on those (and they were completed FAST too).
What do you all think about the level 66 and 68 gear? KingsIsle once told me that the crafted level 66 gear rated just slightly higher than Waterworks gear, but I'm still not sure. I'd love to hear your input.

Where do you get the amulet for Insane Bolt?
Got a question from Hunter a couple days ago:
Ok! Here's a quick video for you of where to pick up the recipe for the insane bolt necklace.
Ahh Insane bolt. I've yet to use it, but I love that you can cast a spell that does moon damage. I've heard it called the "last resort bolt" by some who are on their way to losing a match.
How do you all use Insane bolt? Any recommendations?

Bailey's Definition of Fun!
Hey all, it's a Bailey blog invasion! I'm taking over for Friendly today.
What's the definition of "Fun" you ask? Why, it's clicking and pressing X of course!
Yes, I have been having a lot of FUN lately, and I have managed to get two of my alts to LEGENDARY!!! Here's the gang:
That's Iridian Legend (also known as Captain Pinky--my sorceress), Bailey (you all know and love her ;)), and Rowan Ravenshard (named after the fabulous Ronan Ravenshard, Friendly's biggest fan).
And as every Legendary wizard knows, part of the FUN of getting to that level is doing your level 58 spell quest! It's pretty cool that I've got to experience three of these fights now. I've really enjoyed seeing how each school's battle plays out and the differences with them. So far, out of the three, Fire was still the hardest for me! Balance was surprisingly painless compared to Fire! But, Myth . . . yeah, I will admit that Myth's level 58 fight was a very good fight. I died the first try due to lousy luck with my cards, but on the second time I got my Minotaur minion out, and he was a rockstar--loved me some Minotaur!!
Ya know, in a way, I kinda liked dying in that Myth duel. As strange as that may sound, it gave me a chance to really experience that fight in depth and remember what it was like later and the challenges I had to overcome to win. It's too bad that we cant redo these battles after the spell quest is over. That's why I gotta say, who cares if you don't have a victory the first run at your level 58 spell? Sure no one wants to get defeated in battle, but if you do, it's no big deal. You go back, you make adjustments, and you figure out a better strategy for the next time through. In the end, it's going to be the first and last time you get to do that fight, so just enjoy it.
Anyway, since I haven't posted in a while, I need to tell you that I've been a very busy crafter as well! Iridian and Rowan are both GM crafters and are both sporting their crafted critical gear. WOOT! And, I also have some crafted crit gear I've made for Kyle; it's ready and waiting for him to turn 55, which is definitely next on the agenda! GO Kyle! (Still working on Amber's though :))
And as my better half said in another post, I have everything ready now for the New Celestian Observatory house when that hits live. Just one problem though--I don't know which wizard wants it the most? LOL
So yeah, I could go on and on and tell you all about my countless hours of farming for the Gong of the Oni. (WHY OH WHY do you keep your gong from me Mr. Death Oni?!) Or I could ramble all about how I am loving the new colors for the Fierce Hound on the test realm! But I'll try to save some stuff for another post. XD
Ok, I just have one correction to make to my previous definition of Fun . . . Fun is spending time with AWESOME people *while* clicking and pressing X. :D Here's a BIG thanks to Destiny Mistshard and Blaze for being willing to go much much slower than they normally would to quest with me through Celestia! And thanks to all of my friends who take time to say HI!!
It's my friends (including the "Friendliest" friend of all) that really make this game a FUN experience for me!

Crit Gear and Pixies Galore
Uber Wife loves Crit Gear. It's kind of her thing. She wants to craft the Celestia Crit Gear for all of our characters, so I am definitely not gonna hold that lady back! GO BAILEY!
Crit Gear basically doubles my crit chance numbers and triples my block chance numbers, so it's definitely fun and high on fun for farming sake.
My only guff is that you lose a bunch of power pip chance. I have to swap out my Briskbreeze ring (which I wear for the +death damage boost) when I wear this crit gear to bring my power pip chance up a little higher; a +21% power pip chance ring seems adequate for that--life is good.
I had to stitch the outfit though; I'm just not really a fan of the hood, sports bra, armband, and moon boot look. /shiver
Seriously, did they fire the guy who originally came up with the outfits for Wizard101 because I'm having a hard time falling in love with the Celestia looks. In fact, I'm not really a fan of the Grizzleheim look either. KI, WHERE DID YOU HIDE YOUR OLD FASHION DESIGNER?! Lack of awesome new fashion is my new number one rant. *snap* *snap* & *snaps that Z*
Making any guy wear a sports bra is a crime. (or would you call that the armored tankini? Either way, I'm not wearing that to the beach . . .)

I finally crafted mine . . .
Yeah, Uber Wife crated her first carosel like forever ago, but me? It took me allllllll this time before even attempting to craft my carousel.
YAY! Look how fun that is! I CALL UNICORN SEAT!!
My motivation for crafting that was all about the Earthquake cards. My Silver Trumpet Vine garden has been giving me a lot of Earthquake cards. Look how many Earthquake cards I had when I went to craft this thing.
Yeah . . . best reason to grow Silver Trumpet Vine EVA!
Cassandra Griffendreamer ported to me and we started talking about a few of the carousel's oddities.
1- What's up with the shark seat being in front of the pole? Do you ride it backwards?
2- Shark is wearing a crown (KING JAWS)!
3- I'd ride the mythbat like a stingray.
4- Firecat has no seat and is therefore a huge safety issue (worse than running with scissors)!!

Where can I find Scrap Metal in Wizard101?

Also, don't forget you can make your own scrap iron through a transmute recipe. More information can be found here. 10 stone block, 10 ore = 1 scrap iron.
You can always bazaar snipe your scrap metal too if you have a lot of patience and time to sit at the bazaar refreshing the list of reagents and scrolling down to where the scrap metal would be over and over and over . . . and over. Some would argue that this is actually the fastest method there is. Bazaar sniping kind of depends on the time of day and the speed of your fingers. ;)
Probably the least effective method is spending 100 crowns on a regeant card pack. Those make a fun gift for friends, but I'd never use it as a viable way of finding the crafting components I need. I can spend my crowns on a lot better stuff than that.
And finally, with gardening you can now harvest regeants. Helephant Ears and Venus Fly Traps are known to drop scrap metal as a harvest.
Best of luck finding that scrap metal. It definitely is a much sought after crafting component!

Where do you find Blood Moss?

Since then I have also taken a storm and a life wizard to Grandmaster, and I'm working on a few others with my wife. COME ALL YE WIZARDS!
Now, on to your question . . . Blood Moss is the rare reagent you get from Red Mandrake. So if you're looking for Blood Moss, you need to go where all the Red Mandrake is, namely Firecat Alley in Wizard City. Yup, hop on that mount and run the circles in Firecat alley to collect Red Mandrake and hopefully get a rare blood moss here and there. But if all you need are two Blood Moss, then all you need to do is get 30 Red Mandrake and STOP RUNNING CIRCLES! Just use the transmute mandrake to blood moss recipe to change 15 of those mandrake into 1 blood moss.

Where do I get simple vials, stone blocks, and death gear recipes?

You'll find all kinds of good information about where to find those crafting Reagents. At level 37 . . . hmmm. Knights Court might give you an opportunity to get some scrap metal while you're farming stone blocks.
Keep in mind that the best way to farm reagents is to run a path that's rich with nodes, jump to a new server, and run the path backwards, jump to a new server, and wash rinse repeat until you've gone through all the available servers.
The last part of your question seems to be asking about who sells good recipes for death wizards. Here's a short list of them for you:
1- Mortis, the death tree in Nightside--he sells all your treasure cards.
2- Zam Fir in the Karanahn Barracks of Krokotopia
3- Darcy Holdstock on the Scotland Yard Roof in Marleybone

Where in the heck is Zhi Lan?
Got a great question here from our good friend, Blaze:

So I sent Blaze an e-mail back and said, "Zha Lin who?" . . . in more words than that, and Blaze sent me the quest text he was talking about.

OK, so Zhi Lan (not Zha Lin) happens to be the furniture salesman in Moo Shu. She's just right there in the main area of the Jade Palace.
What the quest is basically letting you know is that to craft those rings, you're going to need to buy a new equipment crafting station since you can't use your basic crafting station to make these rings.
It's not too expensive. Still, 1500 gold is 1500 gold, eh? Not to worry though, you should make it back over time from finishing the quest and selling your crafted wares.

Happy Crafter!
I am totally this guy right now:
"Why," you ask? Because Thomas Lionblood finished up his Moo Shu quests for crafting.
"Why does that make you happy," you ask again? One reason actually. He can now craft this card:
It's kind of a weird thing. Since Amber is the grandmaster crafter on this account, I really don't need another grandmaster crafter.
"So why did you level crafting with Thomas," you query? (Man you guys have a lot of questions today.) Kingsisle has made it so that you can't craft the higher level cards for any class outside of yours.
"You didn't know that already," you ponder? Nope. I was quite shocked when I zoomed Amber up to Mortis and tried to buy the Feint Treasure Card recipe. You have to be a death wizard. And to craft the Feint Treasure Card, you have to finish Mooshu crafting, which I have now with Thomas, so once again . . . I am so this guy:

Crimson Book Stand *2 = Master Artisan! Housing Item of the Day = Pavillion!
Whew . . . I spent a good portion of yesterday and this morning farming red mandrake/blood moss and black lotus/black pearls. Oh . . . my . . . goodness. Here's how it rolled out:
After a couple hours of farming this morning, Amber Deathsong manages to hit a goldmine in the Bazaar and buys up around 20+ red mandrake. YES!
Here comes the combine!

Amber scoots over to Dragonspyre for the turn in, Balthazar is once again all kinds of impressed.

Oh yeah, check out that new badge!

Oh I'm digging on that! You can go up inside it and put stuff around the edges, ok that's cool. PAVILLION IS THE ITEM OF THE DAY!
I feel like I need to log off and recover now. Seriously, crafting is not for those without an eye on the goal and a ton of determination. That's just some serious mind numbing path running. I feel like a mouse that ran the maze for cheese 100 times over. My head hurts.

2 of 2 flamesoul cloaks!
Wow, ok so 12 Nature's Wrath treasure cards, 28 rubies, 6 crystal vials, 24 ectoplasm, 30 frost flower, 16 black pearls, 40 stone blocks, and a partridge in a pear tree later . . . TADA!
Amber was excited about those. I told her they'd sell for some good money, so we ran to the bazaar, and yup . . . nice!
But of course, we couldn't sell them just yet! No no no, we needed to go talk to our buddy, Balthazar. He was all kinds of impressed.
And now that that's over with, looky here . . . it's yet another quest!
Well, what this means is that although this is hot:

Regeant Locations--Savarstaad Pass
Ok, so . . . I was talking with Evil Theurgists tonight over at Central, and he had taken my request to make a regeant locations map and ran with it. He had put together a map for one of the Digmoore Station locations (I think Hyde Park if I remember right). We may actually start taking this project on. Actually, if we could get a lot of people to chip in, that would be amazing.
So, I spent an hour or so running around Savarstaad Pass tonight and while I was running around, I had my graphics program open on the side. Anytime I found a reagent, I would open up the map and mark the location.
This is what I came up with.
Obviously I didn't catch everything, but I gave it a good shot.
What do you think?
Joe (Evil Theurgists) and I thought that if the community pitched in and everyone spent some time putting maps like this together, we'd end up with a fantastic resource.

Tons of Exclusives! Mannequins go LIVE tomorrow morning? (Grizzleheim too?!)
Hello all,
Our friend Fernando (Marketing and PR guru at KingsIsle) has been busy handing out some really cool exclusive stuff today. I'd stay tuned to your favorite fan sites for more information unfolding over the next couple of days.
Two exclusives that I noticed off the bat were . . . 1) an exclusive Wizard101 desktop graphic over at West Karana and 2) an exclusive Grizzleheim desktop graphic over at Wizard101 Central. There's also an exclusive interview about crafting over at MMOHub, which even features a picture of Fallon from Diary of a Wizard. (I actually pitched an e-mail interview about crafting with Kingsisle a couple weeks ago, but it didn't work out . . . no biggie though--I have some other good news to share.)

And not to be left out, Fernando has a little something for my readers as well. As he said in an e-mail to me:

I don't know about you guys, but I'm reading that as GRIZZLEHEIM GOES LIVE TOMORROW MORNING. How about you guys? Could it be? Tomorrow? Grizzleheim at last?!

That first shot there shows the actual crafting of the mannequins. I'm looking at that recipe and just thinking, whoa . . . that looks like one intense ingredient list. Fun!

This second screenshot shows how you choose a hat, robe, and shoes to adorn your mannequin with. This is so awesome. It almost seems like additional storage doesn't it? Plus, you get to show off your favorite gear right there on your mannequin! I wonder if they'll ever add in a weapon slot for mannequins in the future?

This third shot shows how clothes will look on the girl mannequin model. (Notice the cool Celestia gear that everyone loves . . . .)
