Woot Red Ghost! Pet of the Day!

So if you've been paying attention to Wizard101 Central, you've probably heard all about the Red Ghost. Basically from all the chatter there are two possible combinations: blue ghost + green ghost or yellow ghost + green ghost. OR, you could simply mix with someone who already has a red ghost!

Gotta hand it to uber wife and Destiny Mistshard for hooking me up with a brand new hybrid last night. I awoke with this sitting in Thomas's backpack.

RED GHOST with a 70 pedigree! I can't wait to cast that spell. :) This pet's card is awesome for necromancers. :) Three words: Death damage aura.

Happy dueling!

Petnome Rocks! Samoorai DONE! Pet of the Day!

You know, I love the people who love Petnome. The same day the new Samoorai pet came out on August 11, those crazy peoples just went BAM BAM BAM! SWAT! BOOF! And there it was, a completed Petnome.

Way to go, Petnome! That pet definitely looks to be a life wizard's best friend with the innate Unicorn spell PLUS two chances at other healing cards . . . and wow, with Super Hurry and Big Hurry, that could be a pretty dangerous Derby pet as well. Nice Pedigree as well.

Definitely worthy of pet of the day!

Gimme some sugar!

KingsIsle still needs to come out with some alternate way of leveling our pets. Jus' sayin'.

Pet of the Day New Evil Sandman!

Thanks to Paige Moonshade for letting us know on Twitter that the evil sandman is in the crowns shop now!

Hope your new sandman brings you all your dreams (or, I guess nightmares, since he is an *evil* sandman after all)!

Happy Dueling

Pet Egg -- Pet of the Day

I've been getting pictures of the Pet Egg from you guys, and thought we better make this thing the Pet of the Day!

Seth Hunter had an egg pet sighting back on 19 March, and sent over a few pictures. Check 'em out:

Then Nathanial Hexbringer was kind enough to send along a shot of the pedigree on 20 March:

Uber Wife ran into Paige Moonshade the other day and snapped a screenshot of her egg:

And then Blaze Shadowblood had a couple to share yesterday evening:

So as the picture says above, if you have access to a Colossus and a regular old Wizard City dragon (I've also heard that a Helephant and Dragon work and I've seen different pedigrees for the eggs as well on this thread) and want to have a cool break dancing egg, then make it happen! It's today's PET OF THE DAY! WOOT!

Next up . . . we need to put those rumors of the imp and wraith mix to bed. If you have a pet cow, send me your pictures. :) Before you undertake this rumor control, just know that people have tried this hatch multiple times and got nothing from it. I just want to see that it really exists. If you see the rare cow pet in game or have one of your own, snap a picture and send it to me.

Hopefully it won't be as horribly mutated as this cow specimen:

Does that even look like a cow anymore? Or is it just some horribly over-cute dog/cat/pig thing? *shivers at the cow mutant*

NIGHTMARE on Helephant Street

Ok, so besides people freaking out about Wintertusk, yesterday was a two-for-one bundle of freak out!

Thank you to Seth Hunter for forwarding along a couple of pictures to me of the pet and its pedigree. Check these out:

Aww! He's super close to a death unicorn! It's the firey my little pony of death! I shall name you pet of the day, and I MUST have one.

From what Seth told me and from what I'm reading on Central, this fella is the result of a Helephant and Unicorn hatch. I can't wait to try it out!

Also of news yesterday was the "pet egg" pet. The thread to follow for information is right here. From what the rumors are saying, this comes from a Helephant and Dragon hatch. That seems to be unconfirmed at this point.

**UPDATE** It's now been found that the pet egg comes from a Collossus and Dragon mix! Thanks readers! **UPDATE**

The pet egg is interesting. I remember standing around with a group of KI people at GDC and they mentioned that at one time they thought about letting people equip their unhatched eggs and let them bounce around behind them, but that idea was scrapped.

Let me know if you find any more strange hatches! It definitely looks like KI has put a couple into the game . . . maybe more?

Out with the Old Vines, in with the New Cactus!

Here's what my final haul for my Silver Trumpet Vine Garden looked like:

Not bad . . . not bad.

And now I think I'll try my hand at some Prickly Bear Cactus. :) PLANT OF THE DAY!!!

Let's see if I can get some of those mega snacks! I've put a Gnome and a "pile of sand" down by them since I know they like those. I also found out that I need to find a Krok Insect Tablet as well to add to the growth speed. KROK INSECT TABLET HOUSING ITEM OF THE DAY!! ;-)

So guess what? It's time for me to put Manu Narini in the Throne Room of Fire on farm status! I guess that also means a Fire Salamander pet or two in my future as well. ;-)

Looks like there are still a few talents to find on him over on Petnome as well. PET OF THE DAY!!!

Happy Dueling . . . OF THE DAY!!!!! ;-)

What are These Three Green Wizard101 Pets, Friendly?

Nathan D. has a question for me (that rhymes)!
Hey Friendly!!!!!! Nathan D. here!!
I was just strolling around and I saw some pets I didn't know, could you tell me what they are??

Thanks!!

Nathan D.

NATHAN D! I most certainly can play pet detective for you.

Here are your screenshots and the answers!

ITEM ONE!

Yes, this most definitely is a Viridian Cyclops pet. This rare beast comes from the $20 gift card you can purchase at the magical CVS store. I hope every time you drive past a CVS, you hear the pitiful cries of this cyclopsian jewel of the Nile.

ITEM TWO!

That is the Life Scarab pet! Shiritaki Temple - Plague Oni - GO! NOW! YOUR NEW BUDDY IS HUNGRY AND WAITING FOR YOU TO SAVE HIM!!

ITEM THREE!

And finally we have the Life Troll, who hides in the back pocket of Krokopatra. *shiver* Just think about all that Krokopatra lipstick he's had to endure his whole life! . . . AND who wouldn't want to spend some quality time with this cute little fella?

Best of luck farming up your new green pets and thanks for the question!

Death Cyclops Pet (Duke Brandy at Ancient!)

A couple weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a Death Cyclops, whom I named Duke Brandy . . . not to be confused with Mister Brandy, my wraith. Knowing that the Death Cyclops gets a cool card at ancient (due to this excellent guide), I began the leveling process.

Today, Duke Brandy hit ancient—WOOTS! I guess that means he's the pet of the day! HAHA!

Meh, I'm not a huge fan of Musical Lane, but I'm glad he finally got a semi-decent skill to manifest, Death Giver! He has a pretty good strength too, so that Death Bringer could end up with a pretty nice boost. The only thing that would make me more happy is if Duke Brandy manifests something like Deathtrap. /shrug. I guess I should have used the test realm to see what talents Duke Brandy would have manifested since I heard that you could see what talents your pet will manifest in the live realm based on what they manifested in the test realm. oh well.

Duke Brandy is looking pretty freaking awesome when he's casting his card. My only complaint is that I wish it was a blade instead of a trap. You know? It's an expensive trap at four pips.

Either way, it's really cool to have one of the new pets at ancient.

I'm happy.

Freaking Out for the Crab Pet!!

Yes my friends, the entire Wizard101 world is freaking out for the crab pet right now. It's the amazing new discovery that has everyone GOING INSANE AND POPPING RIGHT OUT OF THEIR EXOSKELETONS!

I first heard about it earlier this morning when I was derby'ing, and I got a tell asking if I wanted to go farm for the crab pet. I had to log off, but it had me kind of scratching my head. Crab pet? hmmm?

*Time passes*

A few hours later, I log on and I must have gotten 3 tells in the span of ten seconds that basically said, "HAVE YOU GOT THE NEW CRAB PET?!" The last of the three tells happened to be one Fallon Shadowblade (I think Kestrel was another one of those tells . . . it's kind of a blur . . .). So I port to Fallon and sure enough, she's looking dapper with her new crab pet. Check it out! Baby Zeus rocks!

The next thing I know I'm on a farming spree with Kyle, Bailey, Cassandra, Kyle Firesword, Blaze Mistshard, etc. etc. etc.

So by now you're thinking, PLEASE FRIENDLY, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE I MAY FARM MY OWN!

But wait . . . I'm telling a story here.

I got my crab! Woot! The "Crabling" pet dropped for Thomas Lionblood on about his third try. LOL.

Five minutes to hatch and comes with a card of Summon Storm Minion.

And now.

The location.

of said Crabling pet.

.
.
.

is.

.
.
.

Reed over at Central knows!

.
.
.

it's in the Ancient Burial Grounds from the Crazed Forest Spirit.

READY. SET. GO FARM!! IT'S THE PET OF THE DAY FO' SHO'!

Pet Expansion Night 1 Live

First, let me just thank all of you who sent me messages asking how I liked the new pet expansion. I had fun last night too be sure.

I ended up playing around with three pets mostly.

First, Queen Abbey my ice cat was an absolutely STAR on the racetrack for me.

I played a number of derby games and ended the night with a rank of Pet Knight, which also meant that I could buy my new buddy, Duke Harry! haha!

You have to have a rank of Pet Veteran to purchase him, but he's awesome. Just like the Grizzleheim boars, he does a little circle dance every once in a while.

STRIPED BOAR IS SO THE PET OF THE DAY! WOOT! :-)

3- I'm starting that slow and steady grind of leveling my wraith up to adult. Mister Brandy was doing pretty good on the dance floor last night and we ended up half-way through his teenage years.

I didn't spend any crowns on additional pet energy.

4- I made sure to run over to Mildred to pick up my new Strangle spell as well.

Oh, that could make Malistaire fights fun. :-)

And that pretty much rounded out the night for me. Did you guys do anything special or fun last night? I hope you had a blast!

Happy Dueling!

Pet of the Day--Myth Sprite!

I love my new Myth Sprite!

She's super dooper cute! As one of my acquaintances called her, "It's fairytopia barbie!"

hmm, dunno, maybe needs a bit more pink.

I was really happy when I found out you could farm the Myth Sprite from good old Rattlebones on Unicorn Way. AMAZING! Finally something of worth to farm from Rattlebones. :-) She seemed very easy to get too: three tries and there she was!

It also only took about a half hour to level her from baby to teen. THEY GROW UP SO FAST!

Hmmm, myth damage boost and a speed debuff for derby. hmmm.

Amber and I had a great time comparing pixies on the test realm.

She said we probably got them backwards though. She should have the fairytopia barbie, and I should have the Hot Topic Barbie. Meh, I have a silver lining to me now! See!

Happy Dueling!

Pet of the Day--Colossus!

Remember the first time you saw a colossus? For me it was 20 September 2008. (ahhh, long gone are the days of void friend lists and some dude named Keelen) I describe it like this:
"I go about my business of killing these fantastic hulk-looking rock golems when another necromancer joins the fight."

Nowadays I'm thinking new players first see the Colossus as pets on passersby in Wizard City Commons, and if not there, then certainly out in the Oasis where Al Saf'wan peddles his reagents.

ATTACK! There's the gals showing off their versions of the colossus. Saf'wan is our General leading us into battle. :-)

Let's review all of them:

1- Ice Colossus. Ahh, poor Myrna (my ice wizard) would love an ice colossus someday. It's the level 48 pet of our dear ice wizard friends. It comes complete with +5% power pip chance and a card of ice colossus. Maybe someday I'll have one of these.

2- Earth Walker. This here is every life wizard's dream pet as they are leveling up. Why? The 5-pip wonder spell for life wizards! Yup, it comes with 1 card of Earthwalker, which does 420-500 life damage. It's a little spendy at 10280 crowns . . . ok, it's A LOT spendy at 10280 crowns. You used to be able to buy this little guy for gold in Dragonspyre. In fact, that's how I got Amber's Earthwalker. I can't remember exactly how much gold it was, but I think I remember paying well over 50,000 gold for it. /shrug . . . been a long time ago. This thing actually is rumored to drop from Tumok (unlike the, uh, Skeletal Pirate pet hehe).

3- Magma Colossus. This here is the uber pvp pet for Warlords. yeah, I don't have one and even if I did, I don't think I could equip it. It's for Warlords only. This comes with the ever awesome +5% Power Pip chance AND a card of Pierce. I've only ever seen a handful of these, but that's probably because I don't spend much time in the arenas.

That is one nice looking colossus. *whistles*

4- Walmart Colossus! Now this colossus is so my speed! LOL! Colossusofwalmart.com yo. As you can tell from that picture above, I'm fond of the Walmart Colossus. haha! I've got a handful of these bad boys scattered across my characters. For ten bucks you get a cool colossusofwalmart.com pet AND crowns. YEAH! These all have varying effects, so you should always check the gift card pet page so you know what kind of colossus you're getting.

So as you can see with that list above, getting your colossus will either take a trip to Walmart and ten bucks, obtaining level 48, farming it from Tumok (laf), obtaining warlord and spending 1500 tickets in pvp, or shelling out 10280 crowns. The colossus isn't the easiest pet in the world to obtain . . . imagine, enduring a Walmart trip . . . /shiver. Ahhhh, it's not so bad. :-)

Take your Colossus out of your bag and let 'em run around on those stumpy legs today because, whatever the flavor, today is the day of the Colossus pet!

Happy Dueling!

Pet of the Day--Minotaur

Here's your minotaur and your axe!

Love that axe!

Love that axe too!

If you haven't figured it out by now, today's Pet of the Day is the Minotaur! Behold its mighty woot-worthiness from the Friendly family!

Speaking of our current location in that screenshot (btw, notice Bailey got her GM hat?), you know, I've never quite understood why the Minotaur drops from Youkai in the Tree of Life. Doesn't it just seem like the minotaur *should* drop from Grummish? I mean, not only is he a super dooper rocking minotaur, when you click the little braziers there in the Entrance Hall, a line of mini-minotaur pets appear all around the base of the battle circle!

/shrug

That kind of stuff is very odd to me. KI, you guys are such teases!

I digress.

So bring out your minotaur and his axe today and have some fun with your awesome looking man-beast, even if his name is Penny, Queen Moose, or Madame Ellie. He's not ashamed!

Happy Dueling!

Pet of the Day--Ghoul

It's Mr. Necrosis himself!

Today's pet of the day is THE GHOUL! There are actually four types of ghastly ghouls in the game:

1- Myth Ghoul. The Myth Ghoul can be purchased for 750 crowns in the Wizard City Pet Shop. It has no card, but it looks super snappy.

2- Dream Ghoul. The Dream Ghoul is an excellent "first crowns pet" for lowbies. It doesn't come with a card, but it does come with +50 life and +50 mana. The +50 mana is really what seals the deal for new characters methinks.

3- Ghoul. This is just your regular ol' flavor ghoul. No card. Just a cute little gravedigger to follow you around. You can pick up your new diseased fleshy fiend friend from Prince Suten Sokkwi in the Emperor's Retreat in Krokotopia.

4. Dire Ghoul. Last but not least, we've got a skin-dripper with a card of . . . wait for it . . . GHOUL! You can pick up your Dire Ghoul from the Death Oni in the Tree of Life instance in Mooshu.

Here's me and ol' Screwy Louie hanging out in the Death Tower!

He's a gem.

So go grab your little ghoul'y gem today and show 'em off! He's today's pet of the day!

Side note: Anybody remember the game Super Ghouls and Ghosts? /shiver

Happy Dueling!

Pet of the Day--Lightning Bat

Here's the concept art from KI:

Yeah, that's completely wicked looking . . . sigh . . .

You know, farming Wavebringer is one of the most painful farms for me in the game. Just to get to Wavebringer you have to pretty much do the entire Shirataki Temple instance, so you're talking anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour just to get to Wavebringer, and then he doesn't have a second chance chest. Yes I've complained about this before. That is why every time I see one of those lightning bat pets, I just FUME! It's the pet I want, but don't want. It's the pet that everyone that has one just holds over my head (incoming comments about the people who own lightning bats in three, two, one . . .)

Bazaar sniping one of these would be ideal, but because it's not an easy farm, I highly doubt you're going to see one of these pets. (incoming comments about the people who either sold or bought their lightning bat pet in three, two, one . . .)

So go ahead. GO AHEAD. WAVE YOUR FLAPPY HIGH! FOR I, THE FRIENDLY NECROMANCER, DO NOT OWN ANY LIGHTNING BATS!

It's THEE reason why I voted for the lightning bat to win in the pet contest at Gorman's party the other day. I don't have one. Having one would be awesome. I don't have one.

Pet of the Day--Treant

These dudes, are so awesomely funky looking, aren't they?

Look at that cool "Treebeard" (yeah, not hard to tell where they got that inspiration from, is it?) and the awesome looking tree claws! Look at the funky mushrooms and the spiral tattoo carving in the shoulder! LOVE THESE GUYS.

These two, would totally date in real life.

I could see them going to the clubs together. Getting down with the tribal beats.

So, out of the whole "Friendly Family of Characters" (tm) only Iridian and Bailey have these pets, and I do believe they also were both bazaar sniped. I did try to farm one of my own last night in preparation for Treant day . . . to no avail. Meh. You win some, you lose some. :)

And now, the last march of the ents from Lord of the Rings recreated in The Game Which Shall Not Be Named:

I love machinima. LOL!

So, break out the funk today and show off your funky pets! Today is the day of the treant! woot woot!

Happy Dueling!
