At the end of the day, I do have to cry foul (or fowl as the case may be) on the so called firewing that supposedly has a card associated with it. What? WHAT?! I made a special trip in to the War Oni today with the specific goal of farming up a firewing, and I got one for Bailey through the second chance chest, yay! However, much to my dismay, there was no card on this firewing pet. Thomas got his firewing a long time ago from Everburn, and it also had no card on it. Is the firewing with a card just a nasty rumor, an artifact of the past, or does the war oni actually drop BOTH? Is the wrong firewing pet in the loot table for the chest?
Mysterious! I may have to summon the powers of Greyrose to see if this is a glitch or working as intended! GASP!
**UPDATE** ME DUMB! War Oni drops the firewing with the card. Everburn drops the firewing without the card **UPDATE**
Either way though, it's a really fun and unusual pet that you don't see that often, and the Firewing just happens to be today's PET OF THE DAY!

I was going to tell that person that posted in your comments that he needs to fight and defeat the Oni again to get the quest to come up again to go see Merle Ambrose to get on his way to DS. But hopefully you saw his comment and took care of it...
Anyhow; isn't that some of the coolest concept art for the Sunbird/Firewing? It's very Oriental looking...I love it! I got that Firewing a while back from the War Oni too.
I had heard at one time that they were not dropping the pets with cards anymore for some reason or another. BUT that makes no sense because I know, and you know that there are still pet drops with cards attached to them, and not just the Crowns pets either! So I think that must have been some weird rumor. It would be nice to know what is up with that...AND was there ever really a Sunbird/Firewing pet with a card?

Yo, Friendly, I thought Oakheart dropped the Sunbird w/ Card. To my knowledge Oakheart is supposed to drop Sunbird (w/ card) and Treant (No Card).
Just something that came across my mind, from your neighborly Heal Tank.
@Johnist: According to Central Oakheart only drops the Treant. Also according to them the War Oni IS SUPPOSED TO drop the Firewing with Sunbird card. But maybe it's all very outdated too.
@Heather - yeah, it looks that way, but I could have sworn my trusted friend told me they got the Firewing w/ card from Oakheart. They were surprised to wee him drop it too.

Does anyone know why they changed the Battle XP formula?
The old Formula seemed fine, although it did favor those who used Minions...

I have a Firewing with a card! I usually wear it on my Death (it matches the red outfits she likes to wear).
I believe that it was Oakheart who dropped it for me, but it was about a year ago, so I'm not 100% certain about that. I do remember getting it in Mooshu, though.
I have the Firewing with card pet. I'll shoot you an e-mail with proof haha.

Are you absolutely certain that Firewing wasn't moved?
Oh oh ... Just confirmed with Greyrose, everburn now drops the firewing with the card NOT War Oni.
I will farm a bit tonight to verify, but as far as I'm concerned: mystery solved.

Probably because Everburn is a lot easier to farm than the Oni.

Ooooh. I think I might have to play my wizard who is about to enter Chrimson Fields. I've been pretty lucky the last couple of months with pet drops. Definitely worth spending a few crowns on the second chance chest to try for it....
