Ok, well, I've found a lot of mistwood throughout wizard city. One thing you want to keep in mind is Wizard City is HIGH TRAFFIC. So, you may spend a lot of time looking for mistwood and not find it. I found a few pieces myself in Firecat Alley past the bridge area over by the Witch's house.
I would love for someone to develop a map someday that shows all the node points where they found crafting materials. Somebody put that on their list of things to do, would ya?
One thread that you should probably be following is this one over at the central started by Donna Pixiesong. She's keeping track of all the Reagents. That thread is sure to have some good info on it for you. Donna is awesomeness personified.
Notice that she recommends finding mistwood in Savarstaad Pass. That's a great recommendation. Grizzleheim is going to be off the beaten path for the most part.

Wizard 101 wikia now has maps that show where all the reagents are. The best way is to select a spot that has a number of drops, then run through the area to collect them all. Then switch realms and do it again. I got over a hundred black lotus in tatakai outpost by doing this. Best time is when you find yourself in the game but none of your friends are - go farm for your reagents. The final crafting quest needed something like 20 or 30 black pearl, a rare item. The transmute spell needs 15 lotus to make one black pearl. I needed lots of lotus. :) Happy farming
