How do you find something to post about each day?

Got a question here from Ms. Starsong:
How do you find something new to blog about every day? I'd like to post more often but I have trouble coming up with anything new and interesting enough to talk about.

The truth is, I have more ideas floating around in my head than I can post about just for a lack of time.

Here's my take on it. As a blogger, you are really a newsy with a journal. Blogs were intended to be online journals where you would talk all about yourself . . . only public. Add commenting features and you have a very rich learning experience in front of you, you know?

Blogs over time have become all that and also a news outlet (and a bag of potato chips).

METAPHOR TIME INCOMING, DUCK!

At work I produce a company newsletter as one of my side jobs. I built a great powerpoint (I know, how 90's of me) that details what I'm looking for and gives some ideas about what people can write about.

Basically you have two types of writers for your newsletter: columnists and reporters. Columnists write about one topic all the time. For instance, every newsletter I can count on the security guy writing an article about something to do with security. They are pretty standard fare, informative stuff. On the other hand, reporters write about events. They write the who, what, why, where, when, and how articles.

Also in the newsletter I usually offer games or strictly picture articles. I also run a contest called "find the hidden ticket." What I do is hide a little ticket somewhere in the newsletter and people in my company send me an e-mail telling me where the ticket was hidden, and I put them in a drawing for $25.

Man, you know what, management support is huge as well. Not only do they fund the newsletter, but I use them because they carry importance with them. An article from the boss front and center is imperative.

END OF METAPHOR TIME, AS YOU WERE!

OK, so let's take everything I've just said up there and apply it to a blog.

I think you can see where I'm headed with this.

Here's some of the things you can write about as a Wizard101 blogger:

1- A journal entry of your gaming
2- A column about some aspect (or many aspects of) the game.
3- A report about something that happens or will be happening in the game.
4- Games or fun things like picture articles or comics.
5- Contests
6- Words from important people in the game. (you know, like Greyrose)

(BTW, I love mywizard101.com's onion-esque articles about wizard101. We need more stuff like that out there. For an example of what I'm talking about click here! When there's no news, make some up and make it funny. :-))

So hopefully that arms you with some ideas. Keep your eyes out for stuff happening. And, as anyone actively reading my blog will tell you, some days are better than others. ;-)

Happy Dueling!

Thanks for the pointers. I'm right there with ya on not having enough time! Maybe I just need to dial it back a few notches, not try to get so ambitious and say everything at once. Quit gulping and nibble. Thanks again!

I have to advise against posting a link to Mywizard as he made a VERY uncalled for post saying that he though "Fallon was imature and Central was stupid" and some other things I rather not repeat, now he has deleted this post but I can assure you that he did write that it was him writing it, as he deleted ConnectX account and Central account right before the post.
