This week let's go back to storm school! Brand new and out of the box: Sirens!
Now there's a song that does some damage!
Send a screenshot of you (or a good friend) casting Sirens to thefriendlynecromancer@gmail.com by tomorrow night (7 February 2012), and I'll post the best five pictures on the morning of 8 February.
Here's a mailto address link to get you started: Click Here.
I just wanted to direct you over to a few links at Wizard101 Central that recently caught my eye:
~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. (click) Jordan DeathShade (level 70 necromancer) soloed the Tower of the Helephant and tells how he did it so you can take the challenge too.
This is pretty amazing, y'all. Using the same idea as healing off of immolate, the man was able to raise his death resists to 101% and completely ignore the pains of Bone Dragon in there and simultaneously, vastly improve his sacrifices and empower spells.
I may take his gear advice for my regular set up!
Very cool work here from a talented player.
~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. (click) The new Foo Dog pets come in every color (not just pink).
The Foo Dog pet looks to be a random pet from the new Kirin's Hoard pack that will soon be coming out. :) I can't wait to get a Death Foo! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. (click) Removing your character for screenshots.
The only reason I'm linking to this is to say, Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to trick out the system to get a good shot of the game without our character in it? I would love if KI would add a 1st person perspective option into the game for when you're running around. That'd be awesome!
~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. (click) Not only is Valentina back, but her wands are back on Boss Mob loot tables.
For those who are itching to stitch to something cute, you better go getcha some Valentine loot!
~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. (click) Central's Frabjous February contest is giving away a TON of prizes with a Daily Raffle, Hide and Seek Contests, Wiki Scavenger Hunt, Header Contest, and Jester's Fruit Picker Raffle.
Central always runs some solid contests and these are no exception. It can be hard to win since the competition is so high, but you might just win if you give it a try. (I'm in a rhyming mood today. You know what I say?)
~~~~~~~~~~~ 6. (click) I am now listed on their blogroll, which I had no idea was even there before. I need to get out more.
If you have a blog and aren't on their blogroll, go sign up! It was easy. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks to all the people over at Central for being such an informative and active community!
So, my blogroll broke. There were so many dead and inactive links on it, and it had grown so big that it just . . . broke. I couldn't add any new blogs to my list.
I spent a good portion of the night tonight sorting, organizing, and clearing up dead links. If I've happened to remove you accidentally or I haven't got you on my list, please let me know, and I'll make things right again. :) If you haven't posted in a couple months, your blog was moved to the archive list. I'll keep an eye on this and move you to the active list if you post again.
Hopefully this will make things run a little more smoothly on the blog as well.
Thanks!
"We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog posts"
You probably all got the same e-mail I did, right?
If not, you better head to Wizard101.com, log in, and enter the word "pack" in the "redeem a code" link and get the ball rolling!
We've yet to see what the fan sites will do for this event, but I can't wait to see the usual fan craziness that happens around one of these "palooza" events. :)
The spell of the week this week is a little annoying guy we all know very well. With a jump or two in the air and a fire arrow aimed directly at your heart, I give you the . . .
Fire Elf
This great spell comes to you as early as 5th level and has been in the game since the get go. You can find this spell on treasure cards (even available at good ol' Harold Argleston's shop), items, and pets. This spell not only damages on the first round but continues to do damage over three rounds; therefore, this is an excellent spell for removing fire and tower shields and especially so due to its low pip cost.
I was kind of surprised this time around. I thought I would get pictures from everyone and their danger hound, but I only received eight entries . . . I felt a little dumb choosing the best five out of eight, so I decided to bag it and just post them all! hehe.
Check 'em out!
(Julia had fun with this one and sent in three pictures! ;))
~~~~~~~~~~~ Seth Hunter:
~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks everyone for your participation and the great screenshots! I do appreciate you all putting your best foot forward.
Ok folks, it's time to run another spell of the week, and even though it seems like I'm preferring fire spells 3 times out of 10, I gotta do another fire spell. LOL. Time to cast up your best FIRE ELF!
I think there's going to be a lot of competition on this one since it's so easy to find and we're only choosing the five best fire elves! Make it awesome! Good luck!
Send a screenshot of you casting a Fire Elf to thefriendlynecromancer@gmail.com by tomorrow night (31 January 2012), and I'll post your picture on my blog on the morning of 01 February.
I've been inspired lately by a reader of this blog named Rylee Icehaven. Rylee is a really nice wizard of the spiral who's been taking on the Angus Unicornpants challenge. Rylee says there's a swear jar for this character (you know, a jar where you toss in a dollar every time you accidentally let loose with a swear word) but has made it to Newgate Prison in Marleybone. :) I've been there, done that. Playing an Angus character is tough.
That inspiration coupled with the fact that I've taken enough time off from playing Angus to recover, made me ready for more this morning! BRING ON THE PAIN!
It wasn't too bad actually. I started off with a sidequest involving taking out General Greystone in the Plaza of Conquests. He fell easily enough, and I was feeling pretty good about that win since it was coupled with a Death Cyclops pet! That'll go nicely in the shared bank for Thomas. I think that'd be his second Death Cyclops if I remember right.
Next, I went back to my main quest line and finished out the current and past versions of The Grand Chasm . . . including the grueling march through the security tower to charge the crystal that powers the time machine. Again, not too bad!
The Firetusk fight in Grand Chasm Past was an interesting one, but nothing too terrible other than those hitpoints I had to chew through. That's definitely something about Dragonspyre . . . everybody has enough health to make them dangerous, even Vasek Ashweaver. He's solo, but he still has 7,000 health.
I actually made the mistake of going into this fight at half health, which for Angus is like 500 health. whoops! I recorded the entire fight, but it's really the last few moments you have to catch.
:)
Now it's on to the Necropolis and our old friend Sylvia Drake. :) I'm not really looking forward to the Labyrinth. Gulp.
