Bad Pedro Pace in . . . Saving Serena!

WE JOIN OUR HERO IN MID-FIGHT AGAINST THE EVIL MINIONS OF FROGGO VILLA!

"You will not stand between me and my Serena, sir Campa Sapo the Banditoad Veteran! It is I, Bad Pedro Pace, wearer of the shark fin hats and fancy kilts!"

". . . and if I do not defeat thee, certainly my trusty buffalo pirate crewman shall! You know him as Star Hunter the Bison Shaman of the super awesome . . . uh . . . Bison clan, and if his mighty staff and punch combo does not defeat thee, certainly his stench of buffalo sweat shall!"

"HAHA! We win! An easy defeat after the destruction of your frog in salamander's clothing . . . as Bonnie Anne states in her typical fashion of stating the obvious . . ."

". . . Ahh, sweet Serena, you seem so familiar, and so beatiful!"

"Take you home? YOU GOT IT BABY!"

"Let's get out of here and write a song about unicorns, being stuck in Krokotopia, and Gobbler behinds! TO SANTA POLLO! (By the way, have you ever heard of a spell called Bladestorm? Let me tell you, Serena, I just LOVE Balance wizards . . .)"

UNTIL NEXT TIME WE MEET OUR BRAVE PRIVATEER HERO . . .

Itzen Kaan Starring in The Destruction of Fin Dorsal!

YO!

So, in case you haven't heard, the Tribal Crew Pack dropped today in Pirate101 and it's pretty epic! Tons of awesome loot is to be had in this pack, but the super rare loot to be had in this pack are the five Aztecosaur companions.

I was lucky enough to score one of these today! Itzen Kaan is my Ptero Otomi Privateer companion. He's pretty epic! Comes complete with a buff and a heal spell even. :) The best thing though? THE DANCE! hehe.

I was asked about what this looked like over Twitter, so I took a few minutes here to record Itzen doing his thing in Pirate101 against everybody's favorite Cutthroat.

Check it out.

Oh man . . . the dance just kills me.

Flanking mobs? Not a problem.

Ever been to see El Tiburon, and he just ripped you apart? Yes? That flanking can really tear you up, but wait! I have a picture that might make you go . . . Ohhhhhhhh, I GET IT!

Yup, all you gotta do is back your party into a corner or an edge, and you've just cut flanking out of the equation. It's as easy as that . . . apparently it's almost as easy as making grandmas rock out with Photobooth.

Ratbeard . . . He puts his foot down!

Bad Pedro Pace crashed his way through Monquista yesterday and every time Ratbeard would critical, I would hear something like this.

YEAH! RATTY GOT SOME SOUL! And he's all about putting his foot down . . . especially with that funky Acacia Carnivosa. :)

So anyway, it'll be just a short stop off in Valencia soon for Bad Pedro, and then I'll be joining the rest of you for a cool 25 levels or so in Cool Ranch. ;) (except for that whole Port Regal business of course)

Happy dueling

Whoshu be the Savior of Mooshu?

There's a nice sidequest chain at the end of Mooshu where you unravel a hostile take over plot from Moo Manchu that (if you also promote your starter companion to their final tier) will net you a really cool celestial dragon pet. I'd say this one should be on everyone's list of "must see" sidequests from Pirate101 for the Level 50 players.

For one, the pet is just awesome looking, right?

For two, YMMV, but that final promotion of Kan Po is just a thing of beauty. I feel I chose his epics wisely and he's just walking death now.

Silly mobs! Don't get caught between my Shiruku Neko and Kan Po! (Shiruku's line of quests is another on all the cool kids' "don't miss" lists btw.)

For three, that final Moo Manchu instance is a couple of really cool fights! You have to bash your way through a metric ton of invincible terracotta warriors to get it on and bang a gong.

Your fears are correct in that they do come fully equipped with cheap shot . . . it's a bit like running past these guys . . .

. . . ya gonna' get hurt fools! (Luckily the final promotion of Kan Po comes with Hide in Shadows, so it ain't no thang. Walk in Shadows > Cheap Shot!)

Once you hit the gong with your McHammer, you can then "touch this," and bust those Terracotta Warrior to pieces.

The second fight with Moo Manchu is pretty straight forward, Rush him and destroy the cowman of evilness. SURE, he's surrounded by eight or so mobs and you sometimes only get two companions . . . pfft . . . by this point in the game, I'm betting you know exactly how to get to a boss and take him out quick (and by some miracle Moo Manchu's minions DON'T have cheap shot . . . go figure).

Those extra mobs just mean extra loot. :)

And what do you get at the end? A chance at some cool stuff that Cret92 points out over on Pirate101 Central. (I kinda want that Terracotta Warrior summon.) And also, this really cool Desktop background shot!

Really love the look of this area. It's like the anti-look of the Emperor of MooShu's palace in Wizard101 to me.

Hope you guys enjoy this quest line as much as I do!

Best Nautical Farming spot . . . EVAR!

BTW . . . I just want to give a big props to Paige Moonshade for showing me this Nautical Level farming spot. It's pure genius.

Yup! Right there in Subata Skyway to the side of the Temple of the South Wind dock--there's this wonderful, solo level 47-49 ship just floating out all by itself with easy access to a nearby skyway, and if you're sinking ships too fast? Why all you have to do is just cross the stream and hit the other solo ship across the way. (Just watch out for the wandering mobs)

Sigh. I gotta admit, I kind of feel like a spoil sport right now for sharing this secret "fishing spot" that I farmed many many times . . . BUT WHO AM I KIDDING THIS IS AN MMO! GO FORTH AND FARM! (Everybody probably already knows about it anyway LOL)

Thanks, Paige! This *slow clap* is from me to you!

Introducing . . . My Pirate101 Characters!

So I've been having a lot of fun with Pirate101 . . . duh . . . like you didn't know that. I was casually chatting with the Swashbuckler Soultamer, aka DS Deveraux, who has written the Survivor's Word fan fiction on the Pirate101.com website the other day, and I realized that I hadn't really blogged much about my Pirate101 characters much. So, this post is simply to catch you all up on my characters.

First and foremost is my 50th level Witchdoctor, Friendly Thomas. Here's a great picture of him hanging out with my daughter's character, Kimberly Dove.

I have completed the main story line of the game with Thomas and blew up enough ships to earn him his 50th level in nautical as well. He's currently hanging out in Subata Skyway and lending a hand where he can.

Next up on the list is Sly Kai. Kai is a level 18 Buccaneer that I’ve been playing alongside my son, Kyle (Or Tom Jones in Pirate101--yes, we talked him into that name). I just love this shot of him watching his Bison companion beat up Johnny Ringo.

I’ve been sitting on this character because I don’t want to get too far ahead of my son's character since Kyle has lost interest in the game a bit lately.

Wicked Faith is a level 11 Musketeer that I'm playing alongside Bailey.

That moment in the Volcano is so awesome for screenshots, right? I love that. Anyway, Wicked Faith may see some traction again here in the future as Bailey may have a bit more time to play soon. (If you didn't know, we've been hosting nanamancer at our house for the past two months, which . . . can be non-conducive to gaming.)

My fourth character is actually going to become my new main focus when I can't play with Kyle or Bailey. Introducing Bad Pedro Pace, my level 11 Privateer!

Bad Pedro has all the moves! Take that, Aztecasaur mummy!

And finally, for my fifth character, I'll be playing Canny Quentin Vernon, who’s my level 8 swashy that’s sitting in the wings, just waiting for me to get to know him better.

Dig those Fin's Cutters, right? (I've been debating a re-roll on this character . . . FYI . . . his name and flag aren't the best)

I eventually want to play all the character classes up to level 50 and beyond!

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope you're all loving Pirate101 as much as I am. It's a really great game, and I hope that helps you understand a bit better as to where I am in the game.

Happy dueling!

Two-boxing SHIPS like a pro!

There was an old post of mine on this blog called "Two-boxing like a pro, yo". Ahh, 2008 . . . you're funny now. Look at that! That laptop pictured in that post had all its keys still! (Diapermancer pulled off a majority of the keys on that laptop . . .) Another thing funny about that old post? I didn't realize yet that it was much easier to just run two accounts at the same time on one computer. HAHAHAHAHahahaha! Hmmmm, yes . . . old school.

Anyway, I was doing a bit of the "two-accounts at the same time" this morning, and it worked pretty good for Pirate101 ship battles.

This is totally my way to overcome that nasty level 3 Nautical level on my Wicked Faith Musketeer character. Bailey's Pirate101 character, (Ms. Bailey Sawkins to you) had a nice level 10 ship and a bit more nautical than Wicked Faith, and it was a snap piloting both ships at the same time since the cool downs on the ship powers take a while to refresh.

Wicked Faith got her Silk for the Monquistans in Puerto Mico and Bailey got a little extra nautical level padding. WIN-WIN! This is definitely the way to go when it's early in the morning and no one is around for me to sink ships with!

And even better . . . I now have Bailey Sawkins and Wicked Faith on the same quest as of this morning so we can play those characters together when she finally has some time to play Pirate101 with me again.

Maybe we'll do that after we finally finish Azteca. We keep running into real world things that are slowing us down . . . things like paying bills. UGH. ;)

Happy Dueling!

Ding 83! Crazy Monquistans Invade Azteca!

Uber Wife and I had some more time over the holidays here to finally play a bit more of Azteca, enough that we're now level 83! WOOT!

I've been back to Central's wiki this morning reading a bit to try to catch myself up on the storyline because we've been going a bit fast, and I feel like I might have missed some parts of the story. To add to the confusion, right as we logged off a couple days ago, we somehow got disconnected and distracted in the main quest line by a ton of side quests. Thank you wiki admins! You've helped keep us on track. :) They do a great job, don't they?

Anyway, the Aztecasaurs have been keeping us incredibly busy delivering war challenges, delving pyramids, and trying to decipher exactly who's a traitor and who isn't. Most of that investigation has to do with roughing up the locals and rustling some feathers. But after all of that, three things have become apparent from Azteca:

1- The locals love calling me a magician. *presents a spray of flowers from up my sleeve* MAGIC!

2- The locals love to tell me I fight like a cold-blooded carnivore. *shows fangs*

3- Monquistans are nuts no matter what game you're playing.

Best thing about that ship in Saltmeadow Swamp is that you can go inside it!

There are definitely plenty of cool things about this expansion so far. Besides seeing the interior of a monquistan ship (something you don't get to do in Pirate101), this snake bridge you create is really a nice touch.

That's just awesome. And the free hour-long Shadow Weaver transmute was a nice bennie!

I had to make a trip or two to the bazaar and the commons just to float around in my transformation to freak with people's minds. :)

Also, THE PHILOSORAPTOR!

HAHAHA! I think the Philosoraptor might just be my new favorite NPC. :)

Anyway, we're pretty much to a very pivotal point in the story (yes, I read ahead), but I'll leave a discussion of that for my next blog post. Things are about to get verrrrrry interesting here soon. Until then I just have two words to say . . .

Happy Dueling! ;)
