Catching up with the Wizard101 Blogosphere

OK, there is just a lot of stuff going on out there, and I just haven't had much time to do anything let alone post to this blog.

Here we go:

1- Wizard101 Central has just added blogs to it's repertoire. You'll be able to buy them for 200 forum gold and post to them right on central for all to read. It's a lot of good exposure. (or you could just get a blogspot or wordpress blog for free and struggle in obscurity with the rest of us.) Blogging competition is getting steep! (a credit to Wizard101's success IMHO!) It's not like the old days where it was basically just me and West Karana (/hugs Tara).

2- Fallon from Diary of a Wizard has started a cool new community. I like how Valerian described it . . . it's like Myspace for Wizard101 fans. Oh, there's forums and blogs available over there too. You just really need to check this out. The chat room is fun!

3- There has been a HUGE disturbance in the force as Autumn Duskhunter from Homework in a Graveyard has up and quit! She appears to have some issues with the way crowns players seem to get the shaft. On a side note, I've always been of the opinion that subscription is better if you're trying to save money in this game . . . but maybe that's just me. (I'm thinking sub for three months, beat the game, go off the subscription until they release new content or you get the itch to level another character /shrug.) I do feel her plight. You should go voice your support for an excellent blogger for Wizard101. If you get her to come back, I'll feature here as a guest writer every once in a while. Yes, I think highly of her.

4- Cassandra has been at it again with Diapermancer comics. You need to go take a look (click on the picture to make it bigger on her blog). Seriously, you did feed your hydra right? :p

5- There's a new Ravenwood news out! Please pay particular attention to this quote my friends: "Remember - codes for the Umbra Sword are one use and cannot be exchanged!" So, please don't ask me for the umbra sword code anymore.

6- The Second Meet and Greet is scheduled for 15 August! SOMG!
Be sure to check Evil Theurgist's blog to keep in the loop! We all know how the last one turned out . . . and if you don't here's my take on the event.

7- Did I miss something? Did I? Sheesh. My magic 8-ball says all signs point to yes. The world keeps turning when you turn your back for a minute. Let me know if you see something noteworthy in the Wizard101 world!

Thanks everyone!

W101 Article in IGN

This just in from Professor Greyrose . . .

Marissa over at IGN has written up the first part of an article about Wizard101.

"Wizard 101 debuted in September 2008 with relatively little fanfare. Unlike its competitors, it didn't have a known franchise, television station, or seasoned marketing machine behind it, but what it did have was a charm that captured many, young and old alike. The fact that it appealed to grownups as well was an unexpected but welcome surprise for its creators..."

Birthday wrap up!

Hey! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone at Central for wishing me a happy birthday! That was a fun surprise for me when I logged in this morning. KahlanAmnell (aka Fallon Shadowblade) over at central also got me a birthday cake, grizzleheim, and sorting hat icons for my central profile. hehe. YAY!

Also, WOW it was cool to see the comments roll in during the day on my birthday post yesterday here on my blog. I really appreciate the support you guys give me here at The Friendly Necromancer. Blogging for Wizard101 has been an amazing ride so far; you all are a big reason why a couple of my gifts that I got yesterday are so awesome.

Let me explain by showing a few pictures:

My eyes are gripping for the bump as I receive the traditional "bump on the head" from the birthday present by Kyle. Please tell me I'm not alone with the traditional "bump on the head" birthday song. I really hope generations of lionbloods haven't been the only ones bumping people on the head with their birthday presents. (Man, I really should shave . . . it's been a couple weeks now . . . *scratches chin*) Anyway, you can see this is a framed Malistaire poster. I got that from Professor Greyrose many months ago after I did an interview with her. She has a heart of gold. That was around the same time they gave away signed posters to the first 101 people who made grandmaster after Dragonspyre was released I believe. I think I got a left over from that batch. :-)

And this is a framed article from the Beckett Magazine where I was quoted. LOL! I'm officially an uber sentimental geek now. My wife is awesome for framing these for me for my birthday.

This card was hilarious to me. I'm such a big kid that they have to buy me kid cards and scratch out "kid" and replace it with "dad." Amber explained to me that all the dad cards were really dumb. Thanks, Amber!

Besides that I got some shoes and a couple shirts. We had birthday cake. OH! Which reminds me, I need to go have some birthday cake for breakfast!!!

BYE!

Happy Birthday to . . . um . . . me!

It's my birthday today!

(I wonder if Duke Brandy likes raspberry filling?)

I'm starting to get to that age where putting that many candles on a cake could be hazardous. Gifts so far include: new shoes, new shirt, a new replacement iPhone, and um I think there's a surprise for me tonight from the family (shhhh, I think I know what it is).

Kyle and Amber! /click

Hey! Cassandra took a picture of Kyle and Amber to celebrate their grandmaster rank!

/wink!

WAIT A SECOND! THEIR LEGS HAVE DISAPPEARED!

(hehe. Thanks Cassandra!)

Happy Dueling!

Kyle and Amber's Gear Profiles

I've been getting a couple requests to post up Kyle and Amber's gear profiles, so here they are:

As you know, Kyle recently hit grandmaster, so he was finally able to don some of his Dragonspyre clothing. I'm torn though, because quite frankly, some of his old crown gear seemed . . . well, arguably better. Take a look here at the differences between the hat and shoes up close.

On the other hand, I simply don't use those hydra cards.

And, yes, Kyle is wearing an old school crown clothes tunic from Marleybone. So, there's a lot of work that needs to be done to catch him up to speed. Basically, I just need to follow the guide.

Amber, on the surface, appears to be every bit if not more embarrassing:

Then again, she is packing a lot of utility for a healer. Her necklace is embarrassing (need to grab that one from Colossus Blvd that gives her a guiding light boost). Her tunic actually makes sense in some ways because she is playing with Kyle and has storm as a secondary. That tunic, which isn't in the game anymore, opens up a locked card for her secondary. Most of Mooshu was defeated by Amber and Kyle by packing a one-two punch with Tempest within the first three rounds. But, it might be time to retire that tunic . . . OH Malistaire!

So, yeah, these are Grandmasters that need some gear work. As I said earlier though, I don't know if I'll be working on that next, or the wife's characters with her or . . . we'll see.
