Amirite? Challenges make people do crazy cool stuff:
The Blaughust challenge appears to be no exception! It was good to see a few of our faithful Wizard101 and Pirate101 staff and fans jumping to the cause, and with that . . .
I'M IN!
Honestly I don't care if I win any prizes or anything. I've been trying to revitalize my love for blogging (I mean, seriously, game blogging was my gig for several years . . . with . . . several . . . blogs . . . like . . . these . . . and what ended up helping me land a job at KingsIsle). I have a passion for it, for gaming, and for writing--and I'd love to bring that back.
Hopefully by the end of the month you will see a NEW Friendly Necromancer. Not just a new look and feel (gimme a couple days . . . no more black background with white text), but a blog that talks freely about whatever it is that I want to talk about! Still "friendly" and still a "necromancer," yes, but no more "I'm an employee of KingsIsle and yet somehow still on the list of official Wizard101 fan sites out of seniority therefore I must always talk about . . . work." i.e., this blog is no longer ONLY about Wizard101 and Pirate101. (Not that I've always talked straight Wizard101 topics anyway.) This blog needs a shake up and a bit of a change because . . . I've changed a bit too. Yet, I'm still going to be the same Friendly Necromancer I've always been--you can trust that. I'm not going to start posting about M-rated games or whatever because I don't play M-rated games (for the most part).
So this isn't 2009 and 2010 (as I joked about on Twitter), it's 2015, and this blog is now about anything and everything I want it to be. YAY! That said, I'm not ashamed at all of anything I've ever said on this blog nor for my undying love for KingsIsle games, and there will still be plenty of talk about Pirate101 and Wizard101 in the future. Don't get me wrong with all of this. It's just . . .
SWEEPING CHANGE NUMERO UNO!
To be honest, I feel what needs to happen is for me first is to excuse myself from the list of official Wizard101 fan sites. In fact, I'm going to fire up my work computer and do that as soon as this post hits the blogosphere (and now with added approval via text message to Professor Greyrose). Whew! What a relief. I can't tell you how many times over the past three years I've considered doing that. It's incredibly freeing for me. I don't want people coming here looking for contests and events and strictly Wizard101 information because suddenly everything has changed!
Hope you all understand what I'm going for here, and it shouldn't be something met with sadness at all (if there was a twinge of that). What it should mean is more posts from me about whatever it is I'm wanting to talk about, and usually that topic is MMOs, But, I play all kinds of games! Not only do I try to stay fresh on what's out there and what's happening, but I also keep an eye on the past (Classic gaming ftw). Console gaming? I've got a very wide collection still: Atari, Dreamcast, TurboGraphix, Super Nintendo, Nintendo64, Wii, WiiU, Xbox, Playstation3 . . . I've got it all upstairs (um, and downstairs too).
So . . . Blaughust? I'm in! Let's do this thing! It's a clean slate . . . kinda . . .
Happy Dueling!
You've always been an inspiration to me and I'm most of the bloggers from around the community that have created a blog for Wizard101/Pirate101. I'm glad you're still planning on making posts about the game and other games. I can't wait to read all of your posts. If you said you were going to stop, then I'd be sad! Thank you for all of your hard work as a Fansite owner, I can't wait to see what you have planned for your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Blaugust! I'll also be blogging the days away on my site. I'm on the Anook as Sgm-Soultamer.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how your blog evolves. Happy #Blaughust :)
ReplyDelete@Edward: Better blogging than not, right?! Thanks for all the support. Hope I can live up to those expectations. :)
ReplyDelete@Sonja: I saw that! I'll be reading. :)
@Iridian: thank you thank you! Hope you enjoy the show! *popcorn*
Yay. Welcome to the madness! :) It's nice to have a multi-topic blog. I used to blog solely about World of Warcraft, but no longer!
ReplyDelete@Jaedia: Thanks for the welcome and it's good to see a new set of eyes on the blog. *Blaughust fist bump*
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the white side.
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure to visit regularly, it will be good to hear what other things are out there and enjoyable from someone who has/does enjoy the same sort of things that I do.
Loving the new look. I'm one of those who struggles with white writing on black text. Apparently it is a migrainey sort of thing. So am really pleased that you've changed as it means I can spend a little longer here.
Good luck with your Blaughust, may the inspiration always strike.
